They have two central midfielders that are better than him at Wigan already, He won't start.

Could be a very bad move and he has really has picked a lovely part of the UK.

I do wonder if this Chelsea decision and not his?

Maybe Chelsea don't want to loan two of their youngsters to the same club?

I guess we always knew he wouldn't return. With Alan Judge and Marcos Tebar we have ourselves covered.

Can't see the point from his perspective. He won't get much game time IMO. Daft.

Not to gutted about this, think we have strength in Midfield and can get better. Not sure why Wigan have gone for him. Never thought much of Roslers eye for a player and think he will get found out soon.

Don't agree with that assessment. Saville has loads of potential and it was his first season of League football. Forshaw and Bidwell found their first season hard and then upped a level. He needed to work on his consistency and fitness but [ as they say] he has loads more development potential. In order to do that he needs games and IMO that's what he won't get- hence daft.

Don't agree, Saville will do fine at Championship level, he's a class footballer and only in his second full season.

Maybe we have too so that's why he isn't coming here?

It is up to him to fight for his place and I am sure he up to it and Wigan wouldn't take him on loan if they didn't think he was in with a shout.

Time to move on.

I think he chose another club over us.

Not often I disagree with you but whilst I think he's got potential and showed occasional sparks of excellence I think he's really got to work at areas of his game to be a regular starter for a Championship side. Needs to vastly improve the defensive side of his game by doing the hard yards, far too often switched off and let his player drift past him, also needs to watch his temperament...was often a walking yellow card and went to the Chris Kamara school of tackling. Several people closer to the playing staff mentioned a bit of a 'big time Charlie' attitude no doubt engendered by his Chelsea schooling.

He's young no doubt and has potential but I reckon he'll struggle to get game time at Wigan.

To be honest I completely agree re the tackling but I'm working on the fact that last season was his first and like you state he has the potential.
I don't think there's any doubt we wanted him to stay and it may well be a poor choice if indeed he goes to Wigan. I think he's flawed but he's also capable of of improving and reckon he'll cope with Championship football.
I heard otherwise and that he was a very popular and highly rated lad who was shy and grew up while with us. I don't think it was necessarily all his idea to move on but hey ho we all have different sources.

Loads of potential and for that reason, I would rather he be with us than Wigan. Be interesting to see how much game time he will get there. They already have a pretty decent midfield.

Would loved to have signed him, like you I think he will do well in the championship but think he chose the wrong team/manager to play for.

In the early/middle part of last season I thought Saville was brilliant. His reading of the game and ability to pick a telling pass was second to none. However, in the latter part he seemed to lose interest and often shied away from the real physical stuff , he also lacked pace. I think Judge ,Forshaw and Saunders are much better options for the high tempo game that Warburton likes. Dont know anything about Tebar but I certainly think Moses will fit into the style favoured by the manager.

Rosler has been all over him like a rash since the day he jumped ship.

Wrong move for George in my book - Uwe will stiffle his play.

Mind you with the money Wigan have agreed to pay him a week no wonder his agent has been busy...

Out of the three loanees from last season, I would have liked to have got Saville, Jude and Trotta in that order with Trotta being one that I would have seen fall through on personal terms or something. Saville will be a very good player and IMO would have been huge for us.

That's the way I see it although I think that aside from the money George may feel that Uwe showed faith in him before and don't think he'll be going there to sit on the bench.
I think Sav has something about him and can deliver in the big games as he did in the main last season so expect him to develop into a more rounded player this season. I have faith we'll find a replacement that means we can wish him well with no regrets we didn't keep but still hope he personally does well at Wigan.

Have to wonder about his strength though, hopefully with the pre-season he'll have bulked up a bit and got used to a bit of what English football's about.
Strength? We haven't seen the poor bloke play as yet.

Fair enough, but his performance away at Colchester was shocking. Bordering on disrespectful

You could pick about 10 that day and if totally honest the worst player on the park was Mac - it wasn't good but given the huge pressure they'd put themselves under to get promotion early you could sense they had switched off like a lot of us. The hunger and desire to celebrate on the pitch was gone, we allowed the stewards to dictate knowing it was far more important to them than us as we'd already celebrated plenty, couldn't win the title and didn't need the potential trouble - I suspect the players felt the same.

Maybe I've got the old rose tinted specs on but I'm struggling to see the attraction of Wigan over us as a medium term career move. The way we're building and the direction we're heading I'm sure we will become a more successful club than Wigan in the not too distant future.

Probably naive of me as he's clearly going to earn bigger bucks at Wigan but do find it a strange choice for a local lad to make.

I'm surprised he's going on loan, I thought Wigan would persuade Chelsea to sell him and offer him a long deal on a lot more money than he's currently earning or we could stump up.

I know mate I don't get the loan bit? Obviously bonuses can still be worked into a loan move so could still be financial incentives but otherwise just seems a strange move.

Loan to perm I would think, six months to show his worth and if all goes well, job done.

I don't see him ever playing in Chelsea's first team and so thought a decent bid slightly north of £500k might be enough to own.

Good luck to him if he thinks it's in his best interests. We will get stronger regardless and I hope he has no regrets in the future

How much do you get paid and would you be ok for someone who knows unofficially to publicly announce without your approval?
36k last year, couldn't give a monkeys who knows or speculates. Please stop being a nobhead, football is far more than just a job, people don't pay good money to come and watch me 'work' they don't chant my name, buy shirts with my name printed on the back etc etc

Don't be nasty now, no need and sorry but football is a job to George Saville and all professional footballers. Nick may know what he earns but it's not really his place to inform all and sundry on a fanzine website.
