Another enjoyable evening for the GPGCCXI. :bound:
Back at our “home” ground at Kempton CC, the GPG opened the batting against the old enemy, The Anchors.
The pitch was green but the outfield was brown! The grass was dead. The ground was hard. Therefore the ball would/could run away from any fielder if hit on the floor.........
WP (5) and Russ (0) opened up and both went cheaply against the better bowlers - once again!! 14 for 2 off 2 overs.
Joel and Rob then came to the crease and piled on the runs, big time. Rob retired on 34. Joel retired on 33. Then Alex followed suit and he also retired on 33. A good score was definitely in the cards. The highest?? Get out the score books!!
Balders Bee finally found a bat he could use!

A few good hits - knowing there were 3 good bats back in the hutch waiting if needed - and got to 16 before getting bowled. Young Balders, on his debut, didn’t fair so well, neither did Pointy or Glenn. All three out for..........0
Then in came Salford and gash. Salford, somehow, found that by striking a ball well, you can get sixes!! Scenes! Salford was out caught for 23 off the second to last ball while gash tapped his way to an unbeaten 2.
GPGCCXI; 163 for 7 off 20 overs
The Anchors would have to go some to get within a shout of the GPG’s score, that is for certain.......all they had to do was follow the GPG’s example of batting!
Well, the GPG’s bowlers didn’t let anyone down. The Anchors didn’t learn the lesson.
Gashbee opened up the bowling, a maiden. Salford followed next, 5 runs. Gashbee next over; . w . . . w

Salford next over; . w 1 2 w .
The Anchors were 4 down and only 8 on the board!!! Some well held catches from Alex (2), Glenn and gash.
Fifth over, young balders steps up, a wicket maiden!!!
A bit of stability from a couple of the Anchors bats then followed but the fielding was, once again, exemplary.
Young Balders stint of 4 overs was excellent. 1 for 15.
Pointy held an end up, 4 overs 0 for 21.
Old Balders came on, 4 overs 0 for 19.
Rob also bowled a good spell, 3 overs 2 for 5.
Salford bowled the last and had figures of 3 overs 3 for 10!
Glenn took a second catch. Old Balders took a blinding catch!!
The Anchors struggled to 74 for 8 off 20.
GPGCCXI won by 89 runs!!
This is probably the GPGCCXI’s greatest winning margin!
An all round performance and well deserved.
Some brilliant banter in the field.
Next up, Staines and Laleham on the 26 July.
