Started a new job this week so unfortunately the weekly update had to be dropped down the priority list. But congratulations to GW1 winner Ryan Meakes with a top score of 118, well played  Just the 79 for me, a solid start at least.

330 entries (2 joining from GW2) means this is the biggest GPG FPL season ever.

GW2 deadline is Saturday 11am, so get those subs, transfers and captains sorted asap :)

I'd better apologise for being the QPR fan who managed to finish top of the GPG FPL league this week with 101 points. Don't panic, it's the once-a-season fluke we all have.

Any tips please on who are likely to be the best FPL Bees? Like most outsiders I went for Toney and will stick with him for the moment. Great player no doubt but I wonder if he'll become one of those disruptors / enablers rather than big scorers, a bit like Damien Rice tends to be. Looks like there may be better value further back - Raya, Pinnock, Jansson, Canos. The defenders look particularly good value and an easy swap for Ben White and Tsimikas who a lot of us had. You have to feel sorry for Tsimikas who looks like losing his place after a couple of excellent weeks. Remember it's the international break after GW3 so for anyone thinking of WC1 it might be best to wait and see who survives the internationals. Good luck all!

Mbeumo is listed as a midfielder but is really a forward.

Hasn’t scored yet but has been a real threat. Also takes free kicks (hit the bar from one vs Palace).

Pinnock.
We have a decent defence and he is a threat in the opposition box

What are the general thoughts on Toney for FPL? Personally I am keeping him because I know, as he once said, the first goal is the hardest, then they all start coming.

tempted, Mbuemo looks more dangerous / come closer to scoring. often the furthest forward and gets more points being a midfielder.

For now I think I will get rid, just because we are not creating as many chances for him and he is doing more work all over. If I do get rid and he scores a hattrick at Villa, I think I will get over it :). He is still playing awesome so far but its a different ball game this season. The goals will come and he didnt score in first 2 last season.

It's only with Brentford involved this year that I see just how impatient people are with fantasy football.
No way am I getting rid of Toney... but if this had been a hotly tipped player in the PL a year ago and he'd gone a whopping two games without a goal or an assist I might have had my finger on the trigger...

Annoyingly Pinnock's price has gone up and I'm now 0.1 short. What are Jansson's FPL prospects? Regarding Toney I think it's wise to hang onto him for a while yet.

I never wanted toney, all elements combined hes an important cog to our machine, but with more leniency regarding contact i expect to see alot less pens this season and that is where alot of his goals came from. Expect him to assist a fair amount though and create the space for others to thrive. I just think theres better options for fantasy league, especially when limited to 3 bees in a team

Also comes up for set pieces but has 0 goals for us so far. Impressed he got maximum bonus from the Palace game though.
I'd be going for Henry of the 4.5s if not Pinnock, gets forward from left wing back a fair bit, bound to get some assists, though historically he hasn't racked them up either.

Our defence is not going to keep up with the top clubs by the way, we will continue to give up some chances and so don't go thinking we are some watertight route to certain clean sheets.

Especially as Antonio is on top form and DCL numbers look good. Then you have the likes of Ings, Bamford, Wilson, Richarlson just above Toney's price before the big jump up to Lukaku and Kane. Much prefer to go with Bryan, as I said, he is the furthest forward and has come v close to scoring. Hit the post v Arsenal and should/could have done better with his other chances, hit the bar v Palace, takes freekicks and corners.

I think Toney’s numbers will improve once Jensen is back.

Agreed, but the 4m - 4.5m level defenders are often about padding out the team or to have players on the bench you can rely on to at least get on the pitch every week in case they're called on. The law of averages says that Brentford will get a few wallopings this season but they've also shown so far that they can defend pretty resolutely. So one Bees defender seems a reasonable option.

Yes congratulations (through clinched teeth!) to one of our tame QPR fans, Andy Lynam, who was GW2's top scorer with 101 points.

GW1 winner Robin Hesmyr continues to have a great start to the season, heading our league and ranking an impressive 651st overall, out of over 7.5mil players  92 points this week, well done to both of you :sorted:

GW3 deadline is Saturday at 11pm and then we go into the first international break.

Now that he's fit and presumably likely to feature most weeks is anybody considering Jensen for the 5th midfielder position? At only £4.9m he's barely any more expensive than the usual £4.5m enablers but with more attacking potential.

Going into the first international break our runaway leader is Robin with 277 points :owusu:

The GW4 deadline is 11am 11/09/21, I'll post a reminder as well :)

So who's still got Bees in their line up? I started with Mbeumo and Toney. Did not have the foresight to pick any of our defenders.

Currently only Toney left and unfortunately he may have to rotate out. Just trying to decide if I give him one more week against Wolves or swop him out now. Could potentially fit him back in for gameweek 10 vs Burnley

Still got Mbeumo and Toney. Bryan could have had so many points. I think both will be gone for GW6.

Got, Bryan, Rico and Toney. Annoyingly benched Rico for the Arsenal game so got zero points for him. Trying my best to keep all three...but not doing my points any good.

PS I did bring in Ronaldo and captained him :)

I’ve got Pinnock, Mbeumo and Toney. I think it is only a matter of time before Bryan and Ivan click with the league and start scoring/assisting each other regularly and I regret benching Ethan GW1! I’m in two minds over whether we are more likely to keep a clean sheet at Wolves than Arsenal are at Burnley - if we are he stays in for that plus the chance he may get an assist from a throw or knockdown from a corner (or even a goal).

Still got Mbeumo but ditched Toney for Ronaldo . We’re just not creating enough & I’m tempting fate he’s bound to get a brace at wolves now.

Jacob Taylor is GW4 winner with an excellent 90 points.

Robin still sits on top of the pile.

GW5 deadline is Friday at 1830

Who is everyone going with for the 4 big premiums? Salah, Fernandes, Ronaldo and Lukaku
I've gone for Salah Ronaldo Lukaku, will probably get rid of Lukaku to free up some budget next week, sadly no Bees players left

I can't find a way of getting three premiums into my team without it stretching the funds too thin elsewhere so I'm probably going to stick with two. And of course De Bruyne is fit again now to provide yet another option......

I never choose De Bruyne or Son for their injury records or DCL

Surely there should be a rule for this league that you have to have 3 Brentford players in the squad!

I've got Fran the Tank and Ivan Toney, but I haven't really been paying much attention to it.

Sadly, none of them get any points compared to other options, none of our midfield 3 get any points and neither do Ethan or Pontus because of our poor free kicks most of the time. Mbeumi hasn't done much either. Toney is the only option and he isn't scoring regularly yet

Doing alright this week with 96 points.
Annoyed at myself for only having 2 Bees and benching Pinnock, missing out on a bonus point.

And I think that was with a bench boost.
My son’s getting quite excited that I might win him a free copy of fifa 22. The 120 point scorer without his bench is on 89 and boosted teams aren’t eligible for the weekly prizes!
