Looks like it - it's the land of milk and honey above our sh*t league. We were so close, so close. :(
Who knows whether a small investment in the playing squad would get us to that promised land? :fishing:

Tabb would've stayed, as would Turner and Allen, we probably would have signed Jon-Paul McGovern and a new keeper, maybe Pratley permanently, a new striker ....

Well, as a paying customer and BU member, which of course contributes to the playing budget, to a degree, BFC are.

I will drop kick anyone that says spending their way to promotion works, because 9/10 it doesn't and ends in tears.

Tabb would have signed a new contract and we'd be the ones getting a £1.2m offer.

I have consistently said that a small percentage of any windfall should be set aside to improve the playing squad and no amount of  and  will alter my view because I believe that there is a strong case for a return on that investment. Good teams make more money than bad ones.

As usual, that will be misconstrued as recklessness but as I'm only suggesting that applies to windfalls, I think it can be managed sensibly.

 Is Carrick worth £18m?
is DJ worth £500k?

Seriously though we have to move on. It was time for the gardener to go, we couldn't hold a lead under him in our sh*tty league, just imagine what it would have been like in the championship, apart from the fact he lost the dressing room.

Reading buying defenders? Maybe we're going to get a Sodje wind fall sometime soon.

A good and unsual player. Perhaps the fee is mad but he'll surprise one or two this season and aren't all fees mad now.

Poor Sam didn't even make the bench despite Sonko being out for a while after a knee op.

They also signed Alan Bennett from Cork yesterday who is a centre-back.

i don't think he was ever going to fit into reading.......sunderland will be beter for him
Well, Steve Coppell, whose judgement in these matters carries rather more credibility than yours, clearly thought he would fit into Reading, or he wouldn't have shelled out two or three million quid on him, would he?

halford hasn't improved as a player which everyone thought he should've done. whereas as Hunt has taken his chance with both hands and feet!

I think it's harder for defenders to make the jump that he did. I mean imagine marking Paul Brooker one mintue and then being up against Ronaldo the next lol
