Well I obviously got my dates confused. I thought we were operating on 14 player squads and no reserve team in the 1970's under Mr Pigotts tight strings.
I don't think you did get it wrong. That's about what I remember. The Midweek League games comprised of I think, players who were recovering fitness, players who hadn't played in previous match, trialists and the majority were youth players in most matches; or in the case of Cambridge as I remember Ron Atkinson looking old and fat coaching his younger players from a centre half position.

Is this the end of it now?

OK I'll accept that from the expert. I was right 1st half of the decade but wrong the 2nd.
