This is like “what’s in the old mans bag?” that Bob Mills used to do.

mori, it is clear that you love GP and that the move to Lionel Road has really pulled at your heart strings. I can fully understand the emotions you feel as I to have made the decision not to go to the new season, however mine is due to distance, age and failing eyes sight which is a bit of an issue when careering down the A303 in the dark!!!

However you are local and can attend, it won’t be the home you are used to but, as others have alluded, it was a long way past it’s best days. It was tired and old, the facilities were awful and quite frankly if it was a pet it would have been put out of its misery years ago. You, like everyone else, will have some wonderful memories of the old girl, of friends and families that have shared the emotional roller coaster of supporting this great club.

You have an opportunity to create new memories in a stadium worthy of the club but there are many, Like my late Father, for whom that opportunity never arose. Instead of wallowing in a pit of self pity because the old girl has gone spare a thought for those that will never have the opportunity that you have and go and embrace the new world of Brentford in a brilliant stadium playing the top clubs in the country.

the time has come for you to stop living in the past and missing playing Workington on a cold winters night when it pissed down with rain and your feet were soaked if you dared go to the urinals!! Get over yourself stop moaning and get your backside down to Lionel Road, by seasons end I can guarantee you won’t be harking back to the good old days in a ramshackle stadium !!!!!
No need to never go again, I can give you a lift if you want. Ok, sometimes I stay up there to visit friends and family, but not always and I'm sure we can arrange at least 2 or 3 trips for you see the football a season. I like to leave very early, but we could have a spot of lunch up there, if you are able to go. Avoids all the rush and if there are traffic problems, we won't miss the game.

Life is too short, each to their own. Don’t know how long I’ve got left Newport, but I’m going out with a bang, just like i always said i would. I cant wait to get to the Bcs have some drinks and watch the club that i have loved watching for almost 60 years. This is going to bee some season.
Sounds like you'll be using the train for home games😂😂 God help the Dug Out😮😮😮😂

Blimey this is all getting a bit abrasive! We're all on the same side, fellahs!! Sad GP has gone, it was a big part of my life, but no-body's died. And LR is a magnificent replacement, so why don't we all turn those negative vibes against those herberts from N7 and give them a right tonking on Friday 13th!

I loved GP. As a new roader I loved the starting to queue 10 min before half time to get a beer I then had to rush. I loved the toilets with a one way system that went around with users bum check to bum check and out of the same door and one sit down toilet that was too small to use and dedicated to the kids. I loved the getting wet while eating a burger and the restricted areas for drinking beer. I loved the fact I was not a woman and literally spent the whole half time queuing for the two toilets.

I loved GP.... I really did.

I have been to BCS it was not GP and that's a good thing. It is a modest sized but perfectly formed stadium for a modern supporters needs even the GA areas. What will make it ours will be us, the times we will have and the football on display. Maybe it was extra special as it was the semi final leg but now with the added sparkle of PL teams we should look back fondly on GP but also look forward to a new experience and new memories.

Bought my new shirt today at the club shop. Hurrah! While I was waiting for the prem league logo to be printed on my sleeve, I took a look at the New Road from a letterboxed gate. Sad to see it like this but it brought the memories flooding back.

Compare & contrast. You can just make out the 'refreshments' notice in the intact version:

I walked down Braemar Rd on Saturday - the big Brentford lettering and club badge have now come down. They were still there five/six weeks ago.

Arrived really early for the game last night, so got off at Brentford station instead to have a 'last look', not having been there since 2020.

Walked round next to the Brook Road flats to have a last peek through the gap in the gates to confirm what has been covered earlier in this thread. In fact nothing seems to have happened since pictures were put on here a few weeks ago. What was more eerie was walking around the ground to complete silence. Didn't look right with no floodlights there. Princess Royal shut down and The Brook was closed. Club shop open but no-one going in or out.

Headed down Braemar Road to see lots of lights on in the offices, so nice to see some life there, I suppose. I guess the contactors will continue to use this for as long as possible, which can't be much longer.

I believe it was agreed with local residents that demolition would be suspended in August.

I wish they'd get on with finishing the demolition now. I'd quite like to visit one of two of the pubs but have no desire to walk past the ruins.
