It's a bit strong to use the term "looting" for taking eight inches of metal piping which would otherwise have gone to a scrap yard or into a skip, no?

I mean, he's not harming anyone, or preventing anyone else from doing the same, is he?

Though if that's the sort of thing which he collects, then God help his girlfrie..... Actually, you can ignore that last bit!
'Looting' was a bit tongue in cheek and I agree he's not harming anyone. However, had I forked out £100 for Gary Sonko's training top 6 months in the 'Farewell GP Auction' I might be a bit perplexed. I think I'm just jealous of him getting that little piece of crash barrier as that's a quality piece of memorabilia which it'd have been nice to have more items like that of in the auction.

I guess he knows what to do/who to contact to get access when grounds are demolished, but I'm assuming if we'd all asked to go in and get some stuff the answer would have been no.....

Would love to have seen those crash barriers integrated into the New Stadium. Could have painted a mural of GP from Ealing Rd End on one of the perimeter walls and the barrier just in front.

Your City auctioned their seats off
I wonder why we didn't.

Whats the deal then, we just turn up in a hardhat and high vis and we can take a few lumps of the ground home for our collection and definitely not to sell on ebay sometime when the price is peaking?
He found out which company was doing the demolition (from earlier pics), then called them up and got invited down earlier today.

The colour doesn't match the seats...

He'll probably suffer from acute lead poisoning by the time he's 30!

I think it’s unfortunate he released that footage on social media. He’s probably unaware of how that might stir feelings given so many haven’t been able to say goodbye properly.
He's just showing off. I agree - no appreciation for how it looks to Bees' fans. I wouldn't be surprised if the club have a quiet chat with the contractors - I'm very well aware that the club don't have any say about GP now.

I thought it at the time but this has reminded me how piss poor the auction (jumble sale) was last year. Fully appreciate that some items couldn’t be sold but it was shoddy and lazy. The basis upon which items were selected for auction was the anticipated selling price exceeding the hassle of extracting / packaging it up with a decent margin which resulted in exactly what happened - a load sh*t signs from the 2000s and a handful of turnstiles with not much else in between.

I always assumed the bulldozers would be in at GP as soon as we had vacated it and it would be demolished before we knew it. I never thought that months and months later it would still be there relatively intact. All very poignant and rather sad/ eerie really as if the old ground is still hanging in there to remind us of all the old memories and emotions.

I think Griffin Park is hanging on in there to see us promoted, and then she (bit like ships from my seafaring days are always referred to as she) can heave a sigh of relief, knowing that her work and role in our history is truly completed, and the baton can be finally passed to the new stadium in every respect.

It’s a shame that these unofficial open days aren’t for Bees supporters who wanted a last walk around the old girl before it got pulled down and pillaged for souvenirs by non-bees fans!!

Agree, it makes the auction more of an insult as many people would have been happy for a recognisable piece that you seem to be able to just pick up now

I'm grateful for the photos and not sure if we are being overly precious about what is now a demolition site.

I think it’s more fairness than being overly precious.

People were told, “seats aren’t for sale or to be taken because of toxins blah blah…..”

Now, there are quite a few who have seats in their back garden etc

I’m conscious of sounding precious on this as I’ve banged on about it a bit recently but my issue has always been with the auction really. The recent unofficial souvenir visits by non-Bess fans have just exacerbated that.

The auction didn’t feel like a genuine attempt to give supporters a worthile momento from GP. It just seemed like a box ticking exercise, using the cheapest auction house to come and sweep up any easily accessible loose bits (or bigger ones if there was a decent profit margin) and pit fans against each other for largely, a load of tat.

Seemed to be zero creativity or foresight that when in to it and-that’s a bit of shame. In my opinion.

Toxins ?
What toxins have we been sitting on all these years !
Why give a load to non league clubs then.

At times, the club does still treat us as idiots with their reasoning/justifications for decisions that appear to be feeble

You can put them outdoors but not in your house or shed apparently.

I'm sad to see the old girl go. But let's not get over worked up by some people grabbing some "bits" of her.

Pretty doom and gloom getting worked up over it lol

No one is “getting worked up over it”.

Only ST holders, IIRC, were given the opportunity to go back to GP and have a walk around it.

Some STs weren’t even offered the chance as it was over booked.

It’s just thinking of your fellow Bees supporter, nothing more.

You aren’t bothered, however, some are.

I'm sorry I missed the chance for a last walk around but quite frankly I wouldn't want to look at her now being demolished.

As the legal responsibility is no longer with BFC, then the current owners and their sub-contractors can do with it whatever they want. Bomb-sites were my playgrounds as a kid, hours of fun scrabbling through the rubble but you can't really do that nowadays.

It's another classic Brentford story to be fair...
(I'll move on now)

This upsets me. I just wanted a quiet alone time yet when I waited on forecourt alone quietly for a party of 10 to do a life long mates ashes last summer I got asked to leave and gate shut on me. Probably get banned now for being a troll but it said a lot on how we are viewed by the incroud.
Where is the respect for GP.

Utter nonense, both Millwall and Middlesbrough sold their thier seats to season ticket holders.

Do you know the chemical make up of all three to be able to confirm this utter nonsense ?

No, but I am sure as A "health and safety expert your tell us". However, the omissions in your previous post already means they could have sold (and kept outside). Lol

Dare I look forward to the next annual debate on the chemical composition of various batches of GP seats and their flame-retardant coatings vis-à-vis the H&S regulations?
