Doesn’t look like the climbing wisteria is happening then.

That was never going to be on the real floodlight towers

I agree it was never going to happen but the impression does refer to ‘reuse’ of the floodlight plinth (I assume ‘plinth’ to mean part of the floodlight column).

Actually feel a lump in the back of my throat, tear coming to my eye. Very emotional seeing the floodlights going down. End of an era so here’s to you Griffin Park 🍻 thank you for the memories & helping me become the man I am today. Rest easy my old girl you are priceless 🐝🐝🐝

It’s like watching the toppling of an old 1000 year old tree. Sad 😞

Then looking further up the path and seeing a young sapling just starting its climb up to the sky….😎

That finished me off.
I can't watch it. At least the way the 19/20 season ended I was spared the moment I had been dreading when I would have had to take a last look around GP and drag myself away from the place forever. Not having been to Lionel Road yet I can remain, for the moment, in denial. I can see myself having to take all sorts of detours in future to avoid any route that would have previously given me a glimpse of the floodlights. The void will be heartbreaking.

Re your bold, I have to say that having been lucky enough to get a ticket for the P/O Semi, I was enormously heartened by how good the BCS looked and felt - and that with only 4k inside.

You'll never forget GP, but trust me, there can be no better "Methadone" than the new place while you go through your withdrawal symptoms.

Somebody that I believes works at the site is claiming that this isn't Griffin Park. Does anyone have any views about where in Brentford that this would have been shot from? The amount of greenery would need explaining I suppose.

Can anyone identify the building in the foreground?

It looks like Burford House on Ealing Road. By The railway bridge….. so they’re looking from the new build flats on old Beecham site I think.

I’m also struggling to work out which floodlight this is? It can only be Braemar/Ealing or Braemar/Brook but I’m not sure that’s GP?

It is GP. As that’s Burford House…..

Horrible. It can never be same. And just for a 17000 stadium. Saw 30,000 and 26,000 in GP.
Yeah but only 12,100 at the end Mori. Squeezed in. Standing. Dreadful amenities. Dreadful changing rooms. It was our home I agree, and I remember the complete stadium well having started coming in circa 62. What we have now is so much better than GP at the end. Accept and move on! Stop moaning!!!

We'd have about 8K watching us in the Prem at GP. That's If we were allowed to play there.
But what an 8K, and what a season it would have been.......

(It should be noted that this post in no way supports the notion that we should/could have stayed at GP)

Not sure it would have been tbh. A seated Ealing Rd, a gantry all along New Rd that would have made Gantry Gate pale into insignificance. Still standing in piss in the New Rd bogs and still praying that you don't get caught short and need a dump. Our timing has been perfect (Covid aside). We've all got our memories and no-one is taking those away.
