Wont happen, MB said the other night that we would have to ground share if in PL and LR not ready.

And yes that means with one of Fulham, Watford or QPR I would imagine ........
I was thinking about this the other night after MB mentioned it and although us reaching Premiership in next couple of years may be wishful thinking it is by no means impossible. So it had me thinking a whole load of questions:
  • It may well have been a quick off the cuff answer by MB - so do we feel GP would be acceptable (or made acceptable) for Premiership in short term - 1 or 2 seasons
  • What are the likely issues with GP - e.g. floodlights, capacity?
  • Would a ground share be sanctioned
  • What is the likeliest location - Fulham, QPR, Watford mentioned but I would assume Chelsea (with our good relationship) and possibly Reading would be a possibility
  • Assuming GP Pitch would have to be kept maintained for other fixtures and cannot be 'abandoned'
  • And I think most importantly - how do people feel about such a move?
Its all speculation of course but that is what you lot do so well :)

Imagine that 1st season in the prem playing your home games at Loftus Road.

Or Craven Cottage.

I wouldn't have thought that Watford was an option, more likely to be either Fulham and QPR.

What about Quins, now that The Broncos no longer play there?

I wouldn't worry about the Premier League or having to ground share just yet!:eek:

But... I honestly don't know how I'd feel having to ground share with Fulham or QPR, or even Watford *shudders* :(

My esteemed colleague, Sir Nick of Logan, is correct.

It blatantly has to be Wembley :thetruth:

With the money from the Prem couldn't we just put in all new floodlights? A waste of money in the grand scheme of things but a tiny amount of our profits.

I don't know all the details, I'm guessing it would be more than just that (terracing being the next issue), but surely we could spend a bit to upgrade the stadium?

I also believe I read that if a ground fails to meet Prem standards, but you're expecting to move into a new ground soon and have a timetable on that, then they can let certain things go about your current ground. Can someone add to that?

They could, but would they care about little old Brentford or just how their brand looks on global TV.

Is the main issue the floodlights?I can probably offer a reasonable solution to replacements working with LG Electronics lighting. Or is the issue 12k cap at GP against 30k plus at Chelsea or 24 k at ****ham?

MB said something that was interesting that Gp wasn't even up to championship standard initially .would be pretty rubbish tbh and I'm sure something could be done at gp.....but I don't think it'll ever happen!

As I said before I know this is highly speculative and unlikely - but by no means impossible - A top 6 finish and its a lottery (and this could well apply next season also).
Interesting answers so far - I am assuming it would need to be a Premiership ground (or Wembley) as other grounds would be less suitable than GP. Personally I would love for GP to see top flight football but I guess the cost and the reduction in income could make this unrealistic.

I think they need that stupid advertising that flashes around the pitch hordings as well. That's more power required.

On a "worried scale" of 1-100, this is not going to register, is it? I blame the International Break.

yep but it would be typical of Brentford though wouldnt it? Successive promotions and we're in the Premiership but homeless :(

Agreed - Not raised because I'm particularly worried but as you say - No Football = Need something trivial to think about. Just think its an interesting question to ponder, not meant to be taken too seriously.

Enjoy this division for the moment.
We are not ready for the Prem, it's taken 20+ years to get to where we are.
The plan is promotion to the Prem on the final day at Griffin Park.

this is what MB said:

"if we get promoted to the PL before LR is ready then i presume we would have to groundshare, it was a push to get GP accepted for the champ"

Sure I read in the summer that Burnley made around 100 changes/improvements to Turf Moor following promotion. This talks about a couple of them.

So many of the issues would be around broadcast requirements. Space for cameras, gantries etc as well as (probably) laying permanent cabling and the power required for all of this.

Could you imagine it ? The last day at GP and promoted to the Prem ?......I think a little bit of wee just came out....

It would be just our luck that we do it and get promoted and then they say your ground ain't good enough, your staying where you are and in the Championship.
It's Brentford init ! lol

For us, perhaps, but my reading of the MB interview thread was that he was deadly serious - elsewhere he talks of us realistically being a PL team within his plans in 5 years. He's clearly not ruled out the possibility of it happening sooner but nor is he recklessly pushing for promotion or bust. I and 99.9% of other fans I'm sure are perfectly happy and amazed with being in the Championship but unlike in previous times, the club is not planning on stable mid-table Championship being our peak of ambition.

Anyway, if we can have another Bees Up Fulham Down season, they'll be very keen to fill their ground with us in the PL! We might even loan them a couple of our fringe players.

We'd need more given that Burnley would have already done the upgrades needed for meeting the old PL specs when they went up a couple of seasons back.

Share the Olympic stadium with West Ham that will pee off Orient fans even more. Also good for Essex based bees. ;)

Yes we could sign Trotta, just so we could loan him to Fulham. :D

Extra power points were installed at GP in the summer to cater for this.

Other possible areas would be the fact we'd need goal line technology installed as well, which is a 6 figure sum, but something I would imagine is possible at GP though could be wrong.

We have no TV studio, and I know at Leicester they said they were having to change one of their executive boxes to a second studio as BT refused to use the same TV studio as Sky... We don't have any sort of box but it also raises issues on our press area. We had to upgrade it this season and I'm guessing we'd need to make it a lot bigger for the Prem.

Dressing rooms and entry (to the ground) facilities may be expected to be a certain standard as well.

But who knows, it would be good for the cameras of Sky 'little old ground with poor facilities', it would be part of the package. But the PL may not see it that way...
