I think the reality of Scotland’s chances was summed up by the commentator in the second half before the second goal saying their best hope was for a deflection to get them a goal. At least if you’re hoping for an own goal that would generally be a result of a dangerous cross and your strikers being in a good position to pressure a defender into knocking it in while trying to cut the cross out. A deflection is basically an admission that your strikes wouldn't trouble the keeper unless he was wrong footed by a freak occurrence.

A coach load of Czech tourists were asked to leave an Edinburgh City Centre Hotel where they had been gathered in the reception area to watch the game on the Hotel’s TV.

Asked of for an explanation as to why the tourists were asked to leave, the Hotel Manager responded, “They all went bananas when the 2nd goal went in….and I can't stand Czech nuts boasting in an open foyer.”

....scotland got in this tournament on a wing and prayer....play off and penalty shoot out....tells you me and the rest of the planet all that needs to be known......ask any Scottish born bee and they'll say the same thing....and that is.....please just score one goal at Wembley Friday Scotland.....just one....anything else matters not a jot.

How many years have you been waiting for an opportunity to unleash that?!

I thought it was a pretty entertaining game, and with a little bit of luck/deflections going the right way, Scotland could easily have come away with a couple of goals and a point.
Just hope they don't get all the luck that deserted them today on Friday.......

The archetypal Scots performance in the tournament will have them win 4-0 against England. Unfortunately Czech & Croatia will draw, England will beat Czech and Croatia will beat Scotland1-0. They will then be bottom of the group but with a better record than the worst of the best third placed teams who’ll go through with three draws and win the tournament.

I’ve had at least 3 emails about this now so I’m assuming that uptake hasn’t been great.

I must be in the minority on this forum as I think we will get knocked out by the first decent team that we play (unless we can get to penalties). Personally, I think that Croatia are on the wane and that there was a lot of football by numbers yesterday. Happy to be wrong!

Nicola Sturgeon is calling for a replay, as the result didn't go the way she she wanted it to

All the school kids in Scotland this afternoon had time off of lessons so that they could watch the match. Worse than detention

Not surprised! £30 !

I too thought this rather pricey. With Covid restrictions and the sunny weather, the chance to spend 6 quid a pop on some beer on a plastic cup and a scampi plus chips doesn’t really appeal

If England play with calm sensible heads rather than emotion Scotland could be put to the claymore

....just been messaged by old pals coming down from Glasgow....apparently a very large rogue element heading south.....this could get messy/nasty in London...no idea why so many have been allowed to travel without tickets.

Yeh I guessed it could get messy, surprised they're having this game at 8pm on a Friday night too...

It’s OK. They can stand about in the park in the pouring rain drinking warm lager and singing “If you hate the f***ing English clap your hands” whilst people doing their shopping or mums pushing prams walk on by slowly shaking their heads.

I think (hope) nobody believes those kind of characters represent normal Scots. They don’t.
