Value? No one has any money over there so they are looking to get him on the cheap. Halli is no doubt complicit in this con trick, and I do not forget he was happy to take a signing on fee from us, and in return has given us nothing. When he eventually leaves on a bosman it is my understand that we will receive nothing as it will be to a foreign FA.

The fact is we are no longer in league 2, league 1 or the championship. The point I am making is that based on what I have seen I don't think he is good enough for us in the premiership. As good as it is scoring 2 goals against a Gibraltar team reduced to 10 men in a World Cup qualifying game, it does not change my thinking on his ability to be able to perform at the required level in the prem. This is not dissing anyone, just an observation on my part, that seems to be similar to the thoughts of the Dofs. I am sorry if there are some posters getting excited out there are following the 2 goals from Halil yesterday, but it's nothing personal. Nothing would make me happier for Halil to succeed with us but imo it's no going to happen, probably for several reasons. You just have to move on.

You may be right, but 'Bosman' has become short hand for being out of contract, and it its my understanding that it is now a UEFA regulation, it is also my understanding that we remain subject to EUFA regulations. Whether we are entitled to compensation payments is irrelevant as we are likely to be dealing with a foreign FA. Cannot understand where you got your £10 million from, we will be lucky to get ten quid out of that lot in Turkey, all the clubs are bust, even the country is bust. Whatever, I have little doubt that our DFO's are on to it, so will watch with interest. I agree with your thoughts that it is highly unlikely that he will ever play for for us again, at least in a meaningful way,

Which seems to be the case – a loan for development. I don't think either would be in the first team match day squad if they were here, apart from dire injury needs. IMHO, Halil would be Wissa's understudy.

Possibly, but that's also a somewhat overly teleological approach. Some players are 'developed' at 18, some never develop far enough. We know that Halil has some great traits in his locker (if we're allowed to note them despite the small sample size argument that is normally used against the more conservative posters on his likely impact) and we know that he has not shown enough on some traits that are vital to the way we play (e.g. intensity and pressing). The question is when/if he can develop those traits that are necessary to feature for us while continuing to improve those spiky traits that would already be sufficient. We'll give Pressley, NYC, Halil and others (including those closer to the first team like Forss) every opportunity to get to where we need them to be, but there is always a calculation about potential, risk, reinvestment risk/opportunity cost if they were to be sold etc which means that some might be sold earlier if the coaches are more bearish on their progress and bullish on their market value.

Yeah that's an interesting point as to whether they could afford him. You'd imagine, a club that size, they'd hold much of their reseves in USD because of how volatile the currency is... that is if they have any reserves.

In a way it might be best for us if he has an uninterrupted season there and that helps everyone decide properly where his future lies. Either it perks up for him and he earns the move or he learns that the grass isn’t greener and returns to knuckle down for what we need. Bringing him back early might just lead to his mind being still back there.

Personally, I wouldn’t say I’ve forgotten where we have come from, more where we are now. I’m not saying there isn’t potential there but you have got to agree he hasn’t shown enough in whichever team it is he’s playing for.
