Hope the young Chelsea defender Harry Worley is our next signing. But if not and there's no money left, I'm very pleased we got Gary Smith.

Yeah i think this kid could have a big future in the game. He was very commanding and did everything as it is in the textbook. Would be quite nice if we could get him on loan, however only if we dont have to pay his wages!!

he will be a decent player but i thought he struggled a bit with ide. that said would be happy to have him on loan competing for a place

I agree- I thought their best player was their number 5- either left back or left wing, everything seemed to go through him

Southend have had him on trial but not offered him a deal.

Worth a punt as cover at CB?

nah, if we were to get another CB in we need experience, we already have Karleigh and Legge as inexperienced cover

The last thing we want is more cover at centre back.

What we need is 1 (bennett) and ideally 2 (Bennett and 1 other) first choice centrebacks which would give us Phillips Legge and Osborne as spare defenders.

Maybe Worley could be a 1st choice centre back or push Phillips more than Legge or Osborne, after all its only a while back that Leicester paid £150K for him. It was only last year that this lad would be considered too good and out of our price range. :fishing:

Assuming Bennett is signing, we have 4 CBs. Extra striker, extra CM and reserve keeper would all be higher priorities for me

He's only played 18 games in his career, which is about 60 less than karleigh, so maybe he deserves a chance. He looked good against us for Luton. Plus Leicester, although trying to unload him now, were impressed enough to give him a 3 year contract only a year ago. We have signed plenty who have failed to impress elsewhere who have turned out very good too. Bennett failed to impress at Reading
Probably not what we want right now, but could be useful loanee if our CB's fail to impress early season or injuries strike.

This is quite a bit of the problem. We need a first choice player not an inexperienced one - and I think he's got a bit of a suspect temperament ("game head" not general attitude)
