Why pick him then?

The same reason Bjelland started against Millwall? Saying I'm OK to play Gaffer then clearly isn't and was forced off at HT.

I noticed a couple of times when the ball went out of play first half he was taking some medication from the backroom staff and as the half wore on, he get progressively worse. At one point he could hardly move and was walking back with RS and JMc covering.

I can sort-of understand (but not agree with) people not liking Sawyers, McEachran, Maupay but I find it difficult to understand Dalsgaard.

I thought he started the season well for us and I was expecting him to show even more as the season progressed. However, in my view he has regressed and often gives the impression he lacks confidence.
I do wish he’d make more of an effort to get back into position after he’s been caught upfield following an attack of ours breaking down. I’ve noticed that on a few occasions.

Why should he lack confidence he’s a class international full back!

Yeah. He's a strange one. I rated him higher at the start of the season. However he has these weird mental lapses where he almost throws a strop at himself for messing up and doesn't rejoin play quick enough. Think he's one for the head-doctor! ;)
(still has his obvious good strengths, like quality crossing, and all-round physical ability)

Frustrating player. Flashes of brilliance but too many basic errors. For me for every skip past a full back and cross, comes three basic basic errors where he gives the ball away needlessly-he'll then beat himself up about it for a few seconds instead of racing back into position.

Nowhere near Colin for me and I actually liked Clarke there when he came on-his natural position and works good overlaps with Flo.

Give Clarke a chance on his good side-all his best performances have come there.

Dalsgaard clearly a talented player but too many errors for me.

Great when he's bursting forward, final ball doesn't often come of, decent enough in the air, has a bite in the tackle but beaten easily for pace when defending, he also doesn't enjoy a twisty and turny winger.

He's not particularly slow but a little slow on the turn when defending.

Great bombing forward but still undecided when up against a genuine winger.
Think he needs a run of games when fully fit and think we’ll grow to really rate him, his first touch isn’t as good as I’d like.

As has been said has both strengths and weaknesses but feel next season he will progress further. His physical presence and height is a real plus but needs to work on his defending. Has all the attributes to become a really significant player for us.

I have been critical of him all season, but last night he was outstanding and capped it with a goal. I really hope he now pushes on from here.

Gotta say I'm never concerned when I see Henrik on the team sheet. Think he's pretty solid and dependable.

Agreed. Every player has their weaknesses. Prefer Dalsgaard to Clarke at the moment.

Agreed. I like him one side and Barbet the other. Doesn't matter which 2 of the 3 are then in the middle. With that back 4 no troubles in the air.

Did very well yesterday. The opposition lad is a very good player, but HD dealt with him well I thought.

Good solid performance yesterday. Didn't get forward as much but was excellent in his defensive duties....which hasn't always been the case. Having a strong finish to the season.

It’s a shame he has not been fit all season, hopefully will see him even better next season, with Rico back to full fitness, a great pair of full backs..

There was a moment later in the second half, when we were pressing forward, when the ball got popped out to Sessegnon and Dalgaard was the only covering defender close to him. Henrik matched him for pace and got a tackle in; slow... hmmm.

Yes I noticed that and commented to my son that Henrik had matched Sessegnon for pace.

I’ve been critical of him previously, but thought he had a good game yesterday.

Improving. If he can improve his final ball by 10% then we'll have a great player on our hands.

Did very well against a beast of a teenager and a real talent. Stuck at it and got forward well at times too. Starting to look like the international player that he is

Saw Henrik coming out of the ground yesterday with a protective boot on his leg. Hope it was just precautionary and nothing serious as think he has been very good recently.

Billy Reeves said it was precautionary and HD said he was ok. He twisted his ankle in the first half.

Was the first real injury stoppage, looked like someone fell on his ankle when he was heading away a corner, or he twisted it when landing. Hopefully ok for Saturday but at least we have a capable replacement in Clarke. He played through rest of game though so hopefully just sore and nothing serious

Would explain his performance in the second half

Maybe if Ollie didn’t have to come off at half time Clarke would have replaced him for second half but Dean didn’t want to use two subs at half time

Thought he had quite a poor error-strewn game on Sat. Weakest Bees player on the pitch.
But yeah if it was cos he got injured...fair play.. but then he should have got subbed straight away.

he had another of his moments - misjudged a simple pass that was coming to him, fell over and stayed there (in frustration) - they charged forward and nearly got a chance out of it, with midfielders frantically covering for him.

there's a lot to like, but (feel like i've said this before!) he's still got a way to go. encouraging though, in that if he gets it together, he could be fantastic.

Again I see unconscious bias in how he is regarded. I have taken Premier League fans to 4 of our recent games and in every case they picked out Henrik as an excellent player, big, strong and powerful who gets up and down the pitch, defends well (handled Sessignon brilliantly)l and is a real danger when going forward (what a cross for Canos on Saturday).

I think that many of us are still seeing the more tentative Henrik who took time to settle down.

I think he is an improvement on Colin which says something given how good he was.

I agree. Thought he was excellent first half on Saturday. Not quite as good second but was carrying that ankle injury for most of it yet still managed to get up and put in that cross to Canos.

I really like him, and think he definitely adds something to our team, however I wish he wouldn't beat himself up when something goes wrong - he just needs to accept that happens, as its more important that he gets back in position.

:imwith:
Yeah, he's an excellent player but really has two main weaknesses, which are that he occasionally dives in too early and leaves us exposed, and, as you say, seems to go into a fit of rage if he gets something wrong, and then takes him about 5 seconds for his bloody to stop boiling then get back and defend again!

I hope there are plans to mark his achievement and that of our club next season. An announcement and a standing O before the first game would be entirely appropriate.

It was marked before they left- Henrik and Andreas - at the last home game.

I’m sure it’ll get announced again at the first home game in August 2018.
