Goes with my best wishes, maybe not his decision totally but I'd have thought after all the effort he'd liked to have tasted the premier league.

It was his decision! Wanted to return earlier but stayed for one more shot at getting us up.

Probably just me, but would have been nice for us to be allowed to announce it first.
Good luck Henrik. Top pro, and a genuinely nice bloke.

A great servant for us and character to have around. Shame to see any of this group leave but good luck to him.
Strong performance when he came on in the first leg, very good the last two games too.
Could be playing Champions League for them next season.

Good luck Henrik and thank you!!

Expected this a year ago. To get the extra season from him was brilliant, he gave 110%, contributed well, and the fact he was our captain on the pitch when we got promoted will go down in history. Captain material, great leader and a good player.

As mentioned on his other thread, I had been harsh on him at the start of this season. He wasn’t suddenly a poor player overnight but I felt he had gradually just become less effective as a flying wing-back. I was cringing at some of the early season games. In the end, he tweaked his game (and we tweaked our setup) to better accommodate his stronger points and he did pretty well on the right of a back four whilst Roerslev was out. But where I felt he really excelled was as a wide centre back in our 3-5-2. It’s the ideal position for him at this stage of his career and where I had envisaged his contribution to be from when his deal was renewed. He was superb there.

In the end, sad to see him go. But two excellent young right-backs in our squad and probably another to come in is exciting.

Good luck back in Denmark Henrik.

Another of the special group of players that have taken us from being an established Championship side to PL football.

Always gave everything when he played and unlike many Bees players who had tried and failed before, he did his part in the big games. He’s also responsible for one of the photos of the season - here he is posing with his good friend Bobo Begovic:

I wish him all the best. Terrific player.
Yep and I think he could have done a good job for us in the premier league For at least one season as the right sided centre back in a three.
From moment he came on in first leg of play off semi final he helped swing tide. In the Final he was a large contributory factor in us starting on the front foot with his surging runs

Sad news but not surprising. Good luck Henrik. Wish you nothing but the best of luck. We are probably looking for a stronger, younger option anyway.

Gutted - been a great player for us, and his performances in the play offs were vital to us getting through. Great player, but the PL maybe a step too far, we'll need to bring in a bloody good replacement!

Glad he's still somewhat in the Brentford football family. Wouldn't surprise me if Marcondes made the same move.

My career as a RB peaked as an 11 year old in the 87/88 season when I captained the St.Mary's (Isleworth) Junior 4 team to a runaway league title triumph. Kinda saw a lot of my game and character in Henrik (😎) so this is a sad day, good luck to him back home, what a legend 👍🏻🐝⚽

Great move for Henrik, I'm sure we can replace on the pitch though replacing off the pitch might be more difficult.

Although not obvious these are some memories of mine;

- Henrik giving an on-pitch hairdryer to the team at home to Swansea. Proper leadership. We’d been 3-0 down and I think after that we pulled it back to 3-2 and came very close to levelling.

- His goals in derby matches we were losing - QPR away and Fulham at Wembley. In the big moments when in the face of adversity, even if it didn’t end up being our day, he was often the one that took the challenge by the scruff of the neck.

- Some of the interplay between him and Jansson, particularly in 19/20. It was crazy to me that these two mammoth defenders and leaders of men, were really such good footballers too. At times they would just toy with pressing opponents.

Excellent pro and a very likeable person. Shame he got some undeserved stick a couple of seasons ago but in the last two years has been outstanding for us. I wonder not being able to travel back frequently to Denmark to see his family played in part his decision to return home.

Thanks for your service to the club HD and you were outstanding in the play offs. Will be remembered fondly by many Bees fans.

A great servant for the club, and a really nice bloke. Got a huge buzz from watching a Bees player at the World Cup in 2018. Best wishes for the future Henrik... 🐝

Good luck Henrik and thanks for the memories. A solid 7/10 for me over his Brentford career.

I think we'll miss his leadership the most, and I hope we recruit at least one or two more experienced players to blend in with our young talent this season!

A top player for us, part of a fabulous team. He served us well and that pic of him with Bergovic sums him up, always smiling even when minxing.

I can only wish him the very best for him and his family.

Thank you Henrik 🐝👍🇩🇰

Henrik provided important leadership on a young team (especially in 19/20) and always gave his best effort, which is an underrated trade. He also gave an extraordinary physical dimension for a right back. I wish him all the best in the future.

His contribution to the three play off games was massive imo. Top person and player, wish him nothing but good luck.

I totally agree , it’s a shame you can’t used sentiments , The guy deserved a years Premiership football , he would also have helped in the development of the younger players . But the the family may have wanted to go back to Denmark

A big thank you Henrik

His interview before the final was beautiful and with a smile on his face, he was calm and at peace. That emanated through the whole team.
We're going to miss his leadership and experience so that feels like a blow but glad he could leave in the best way.
Would love him back at the club when his playing days are over in some capacity

If I remember correctly, I first saw him in the away defeat to Sheffield Utd in 2017. I was very impressed with his tough tackling, hard running, no-nonsense approach. In subsequent games, I became more critical.
However, strange to say, but in my view, the older he got, the better he got and this was underlined when he won his place back late this season.
I‘m now sorry to see him go. A great presence on and off the pitch. I wish him well.

Thank you, Henrik. Wouldn't have achieved promotion without your calm confidence and experience, especially in the last three games. Your international experience was an asset for the playoffs and final. Hoping you have a great career ahead, maybe eventually in coaching/management and that you represent Denmark at the highest level again.

Very sad about this! Very few bad games in his time with us and some really fantastic ones, including during the POs. This, and as a central member of the 2000/2001 Prem promotion squad, means nailed on legend status in my view! :)

Player that came and was a little underwhelming at first, but developed into a superb RB and RCB, first Bees player at a world cup, big game player and leader. Good luck to him in his future challenges
