How any one can think play offs were realistic is beyond me, the basics are defending well and giving little away, 4 goals against from Barnet says

I think it will be a comfortable mid table finish, I think the PO ship has sailed.

This will either be a blip in our 10 match unbeaten run or we are enterring into another 5 game losing streak such is our way of the last 3-4 years.

After the last match I agree. I think that was the nail in the coffin.
Couldn't afford to lose another 3 points ground with the main rivals both winning.
Before that I'd have said we still had a small chance.

After the raggedness of Saturday I'd take any win against Villa just to reset the team and blow away the Forest hiccup. I also think a win will help given it'll be another 10 days before the next fixture against SW. Glad that this game is at home, under the lights, no better opportunity to move on and up. I thought the team looked a bit jaded on a poor pitch at Forest. BFC 2 AV 1

Agree with that. The fear is a slip up on Wednesday and go out on Sunday and the season will just feel done.

If we can get four wins from Villa, Hull, SW, QPR, Boro and Sheff Utd. Chuck in a cup win against Swansea then at least it keeps things going into April, even if it does mean needing 8/10 wins for any chance of 6th.

Can't realistically see 4 wins in those 6 fixtures given 3 are away, I'd take 11/12pts which would represent a pretty decent return and take us closer to 50. I haven't the foggiest what order these pts will hypothetically come in, it could be the games u least expect a result in.

TBH any Villa could turn up at GP, the 5/5 or 3/3 or the 0/3 at Wigan. They are the ultimate bi-polar team of the championship, hope it's the Reading/Wigan incarnation on Wednesday night.

In my head we need 74 points - It may be less, it may be more but 74 is about average and looks about right this year.

We have 40 so another 34 from 45 allows us around 3 defeats and a draw from the remaining 15. It doesn't matter which order they come in but that remains my target - and I think we are off the curve at the moment, Forest is not a match I had pegged as a loss. The two away matches in March against Middlesbrough and Sheffield United are pivotal - Middlesbrough specifically because they would have to be considered one of our targets - assuming we can keep winning at home.

It's still a very long shot but we are playing great stuff and our form is near top of table.

It's possible but I think in one of his interviews Phil Giles said you've got to not just look at the points but the number of clubs above you and the chances of overhauling them. Think we've actually got a better chance of getting lucky with cup draws and really doing something special .Beat Swansea get a winnable quarter final and it would make sense put our eggs in that financial and emotional basket.

Play-off spot without a doubt, as it gives us a chance of making the PL. Both are unlikely, but winning the FA Cup is a lot more unlikely IMO.

Looking at some stats I don't think Bristol City have exactly been smashing teams off the park and are relying on being very tight at the back.
They've also had a run against some of the poorer teams and their next set of matches are much tougher.
Pretty decent chance that they'll start dropping points finally after this massive winning streak.

The other playoff spot rival Boro are the only team who've conceded less than Brizzle, and are similarly relying on this, since they're not scoring a lot of goals......a full 15 less goals than us.

The playofs are still a very tough ask.......but there are glimmers of hope to cling onto.....

45 points to play for and 30 is minimum points required and that will not guarantee anything.
If you look at the fact we are 14 points behind WBA, 13 behind Bristol City and 11 behind Middlesbrough and Derby respectively. Pick one to chase and it has to be the closest one and hope that they lose 4 we win 4 and then hope no clubs above us win 4 too. Ti's a tall order, but come middle o' March we will know more.
