Those who aren’t real Brentford supporters, and will just turn up to watch any team that may be doing well at the moment. I’ll gladly lose them to having new young, Brentford supporters for life, replace them.
I have a firm belief that throughout your life you can only ever truly support one team.
You can be interested in other teams, for a number of reasons, and give a look as to how they are doing.
But only one team will shove you through all the contrasting passions of sheer misery and total happiness. For me that started as BRENTFORD in the Royal Oak stand over 60 years ago, and hasn’t stopped since through every year of my life.
You can only ever feel the hurt and pain, like yesterday, and the real highs of all the other successes, if that team is embedded in your body and soul, no matter what division they are in, no matter how they are doing.
All of us would have felt really low yesterday, say a few harsh words in frustration, and then we pick ourselves up again and come back for more.
People, temporary fans, players, will come and go.
But we, true dyed-in-the-wool Brentford, stay with it forever.
