Jeanvier wasn't very good in my opinion, I think nostalgia might be creeping in for a few again... i'm actually surprised he's still here but very happy to be proven wrong.

We’re among the lowest of the sprinters. But that’s not such a surprise as in the absence of Baptiste and JDS we’re not really a team that runs at opponents. I’d expect a high press to involve less sprinting distance. Rico probably records some of the highest sprinting stats in covering.

By itself, it's a bit meaningless other than indicating a team of players that runs around a lot quite quickly; even goals per sprinted km is not going to tell you much. Given the amount of statistics now collected and the struggle to make things out of the possible analyses, this does seem to be analytical diarrhoea.

So it seems Baptiste is back for Saturday (bench, I imagine), Wissa maybe another week away and Jeanvier a bit longer than that.

I am still traumatised - as a young boy I was over the moon we'd signed a title winning midfielder from "the Arsenal" but then Paul Davis turned up...... or perhaps, more appropriately, didn't....

Jensen - no idea why he wasn't in the squad, assume lack of training for a week after covid result.
Mads Bech - back in training but likely to get a B team game before being involved I'd have thought?
JDS - originally out for the season I thought? Not even seen in a gym so wouldn't hold your breath!
JDS not named in squad, to be revisited in Jan. Crutches gone, difficult to see him making the squad and getting match fit this season I would have thought, a Shame, let's just hope he is our surprise Prem package for 22/23 season!!

JDS worries me. I don't know the detail of his injury only that hip joints, nerves etc can be really difficult.As far as l know there hasn't been any surgery so it may be time to heal naturally. The club hasn't put a date on his likely return either. Hoping for something positive.

Thought he had operation hence crutches to recover , might be wrong .

Zanka has to be close to a return otherwise makes no sense why let Goode out on loan.

Perhaps the coaching staff are trying to train Jeanvier into playing in a more reliable way, rather than being the maverick he might have been. But agree, he doesn’t seem to be featured in training pictures. Also after the length of time he has had out, it maybe a difficult return, as with Sergi.
Sure Fosu featured in the “return to training” video, and he may be another one who is being retrained.

When I asked the same question on here some time back, I got a barrage of “good idea, let’s tell the opposition who’s available”, but that wasn’t what I was saying. I was simply asking the same as you. Why can’t we be told about the progress of long-term injuries. I don’t think we were ever even told that Jeanvier had got injured, let alone any updates. I can only assume he’s been frozen out, like Valencia.

No idea but he was training with the first team on the 8th of November as per club photos so would presume fit now but would be nice to get updates on injuries.

Interesting to see the last time Reya and Ayer started in the same league game before Manchester City was against Liverpool. That’s a significant core of everything we do - both defensively and in attack. Personally I consider Ayer equally as important as Reya to our performances
Other clubs will argue injuries are part of the game. But it hurts more in a club with a budget as small as ours. Leeds are feeling it too (albeit Bielsa’s preference for a small squad). Liverpool miss their main defender and they cannot compete in the title race. We miss them, we remain nearer to 18th than we would like.
