My son’s just predicted Toney to celebrate his birthday by scoring 25 goals tonight. I think he’s the only person slightly more confident of Toney’s ability than Toney himself!

I am actually amazed that he has 27 goals because we really don’t create that many chances for him..his conversion rate must be incredibly high

What a striker to say the least. I am truly amazed at the amount of goals and assists he’s got. I always feel he’s feeding off scraps tbh. It’s strange watching us play now I think we’re different, more pragmatic perhaps which is understandable. Our attack is great really but no where near as free flowing as I recall in prior seasons. Maybe that’s just me & not actually watching the matches live in the flesh. I have no enjoyment whatsoever watching us on a screen & don’t feel that great when we score or win the quite a lot of the time to be totally honest. That is a tragic thing for me to say, I’m the biggest Brentford fan you could met I love Brentford to the core loud n proud, but losing the connection & passion football is nothing without fans in the stadium. I suppose it’s hard to explain when I don’t understand what’s really going on in this world anymore, along with everyone else. SUPER BEES 🐝

Passing was way off today (along with Janelt). Bit more composure and he'd have bagged a couple more assists.

Fantastic player but I am little worried that he has not scored other than penalties in over 4 matches now.

I am not. I am more concerned about other players not scoring and how big chances are being missed.

I wish we had another player that got closer to him, especially when we have periods dominating games. It doesn’t necessarily need to be the same player throughout the game. How can we be expected to score more goals when the gaps between Toney and the midfield is so big.
I would be happy to see Ghoddos & Fosu start vs Huddersfield

With Toney so reliable from the spot I was curious as to the only career penalty he failed to put away. It was in a 0-4 defeat in Peterborough v Barnsley..he wins the penalty (while it is still 0-0) at about 1:45...

It seems his technique has changed a bit since then.

Apologies if already posted but I did look.

Didn't notice in the game, but on the highlights, his left leg has a fair bit of strapping on it.
Hopefully he'll get a rest on the international break and be back, fully fit next game.

Has had that on his leg since at least October!

He’s adapted his technique big time since then hasn’t he, I almost feel sorry for goalkeepers

You just know that the first pen he misses will be the fifth, and deciding pen at Wembley, in the play off shoot out versus Swansea.

#itsbrentfordinnit
Absolutely no chance. He won't miss a single penalty for us. We won't be playing Swansea in a PO final this year. And if we're in the PO final, we will win in normal time 🤠
Let's not talk silly things into existence please

Hes been fantastic in front of goal. But there is a little bit of me that still wants to see a bit more off the ball and when its not all about scoring.

Watching the Villa game shows me a bit of whats lacking across our front three. Toney just doesnt press, run the channels and link the play as much as Watkins used to. So when the other two are off their games it cant be easy for him. You can see he has talent on the ball but it needs support and he needs to do the right thing with it when he finally gets one of those long balls under control.

Is that a lack of time on the training ground. I suppose it doesnt help that we have no wide players contributing.

So add to that the team sitting deeper this year and two defensive minded CMs playing its no surprise we arent as fluid or dangerous in the final third atm.

But the pure amount of goals hes scored has been fantastic he will go for big money.

I raised this a while back , got a reply that it was for muscle support, don’t know if that’s right or wrong

How good is he and how good will he become. Incredible goal tally, and comparable with Watkins (did he score any penalties last season? Think all by Benrahma). IT doesn't seem to need many chances and has a great thing of being in the right place at the right time. His work bringing others in is also tremendous. I can't wait for him to score a goal from the edge of the box as he seems these are more difficult for him to hit right/get on target. Long may his good habits continue.

Watkins was not good with pens.

I remember. Comparing IT with OW on goal scoring gets a little skewed. I think IT is on 20 goals not including pens. I reckon he can get to 30 without pens for the regular season.

Especially with those 3 extra games in the Play Offs.

Watkins rarely took a penalty especially last season , so most of his goals were from open play

It's a toss up between him and Andrew Ayew I think. :owusu:

I wouldn't toss a coin near Andrew Ayew SmiffyBee - he'd be rolling on the floor smashing a blood capsule on his head and screaming before its even left the thumb.....and from nowhere Cooper bursts through the door "Penalty BONDY BONDY PENALTY..."

That 40% sell-on is definitely related to Adam Armstrong and nothing to concern us, as he's only moved once from Newcastle to Blackburn.

Ivan Toney went from Newcastle to Peterborough to us, so they won't have any stake in him whatsoever anymore.

They might be due a share of what Peterborough get as a sell on, just as Exeter do with Watkins.
