It’s reported in the Shields Gazette that Newcastle have a 40 per cent sell on from when they sold him and this still applies.
Newcastle United 'pushing ahead' with plans to seal £16m deal for former academy star
This hopefully will make us keener to keep him as cashing in is less attractive.

Newcastle United sold Adam Armstrong to Blackburn Rovers with a 40% sell on Claus added as they are now rumoured to be thinking about buying him back it will of course be the agreed fee minus the 40% so nothing to do with Toney.

Nothing to do with IT.

If any money is due for any sale of IT, Brentford won’t owe anything to Newcastle, just Peterborough United. PUFC will owe NUFC any sell on that is due.

It's looking increasingly likely Kane will leave Tottenham in the summer. If Mourinho survives and that is a big if at this stage I think Ivan is a Jose type of player and I believe the reports this week of Tottenham's interest are likely to be true.

I think Mourinho would make him his first choice summer target, we obviously won't keep him for another championship season; he is too good for the championship and he knew that last summer but needed to spend a year proving that to others.

If we're promoted our valuation will go up as we'll try to keep him with ourselves for the PL; I believe that might even be a challenge if as expected some PL clubs are offering big fees and big long term contracts.

Too much of a risk for Jose, IMO. Prefers proven international stars for his key roles.

Hes been fantastic in front of goal. But there is a little bit of me that still wants to see a bit more off the ball and when its not all about scoring.

Watching the Villa game shows me a bit of whats lacking across our front three. Toney just doesnt press, run the channels and link the play as much as Watkins used to. So when the other two are off their games it cant be easy for him. You can see he has talent on the ball but it needs support and he needs to do the right thing with it when he finally gets one of those long balls under control.

Is that a lack of time on the training ground. I suppose it doesnt help that we have no wide players contributing.

So add to that the team sitting deeper this year and two defensive minded CMs playing its no surprise we arent as fluid or dangerous in the final third atm.

But the pure amount of goals hes scored has been fantastic he will go for big money.

TF says in his interview that the area of improvement when they signed him were the press and the working across the front line. He has improved this but he is not a lean and pacey player who is going to run the channels. I think most prem sides (or all top flight sides) are looking at a player who can do this, press, close down, get down the channels etc, whoever buys Toney will be someone who will look to play more like we have this season, probably not one of the top 10.

I can see OW going for 100M to a top 6 side, maybe Villa would be in for IT flor 50M, imagine our coffers again this summer.

I think he is good enough to well in the prem but there are some real super stars in the Championship who are big units too who never work in the Prem, Mitrovic for one.

I would hope the club would break the bank to keep Ivan when we're promoted to the Premiership.
I don't fancy our chances in the top division without his goals. :hat:

Unless we get 50M for him and buy a better version as we have done consistently for 10 years. So I hope we don't break the bank for a player unproven at Prem level.

I hope we have that problem in terms of trying to keep him for a PL campaign. However "breaking the bank" would only go so far and if there is genuine interest from the likes of Tottenham, Arsenal and weathly clubs like Villa and Leeds then that breaking the bank might not do it. A lucrative, long term contract at one of those clubs would be tempting for the player.

If we're promoted though and had a genuine interest in keeping him, backed up by a PL cheque then my guess is we could demand close to £50million which would test the interest from elsewhere.

If we don't go up my guess is we'll have to sell him for something around £30million; not bad for a year's investment.

Wonder how many he’d score with Benrahma providing the creativity?

As much as I love OW I reckon I would’ve scored a few playing in between Benni and an unknown Bryan. Toney has neither of those to benefit him.

This might be controversial but interested in views and opinions. But Toney has contributed to our playing style change, we've gone more direct, and our style has adapted to his strengths, which has resulted in his goals. But plenty people moaning about our "flowing attacking" football has gone. You cant have both with Toney I don't think. Watkins played into our "flowing football". Fans need to accept that we've adapted to Toney. It's why Forss doesn't currently suit our style. Forss in last seasons side would get goals.

Pukki now 3 goals behind Toney - think Toney will need a couple more if he wants that top spot.

Unbelievably isolated up front it’s a sin, has been near enough the whole season but still scored the amount he has speaks volumes. Just find it frustrating the stubbornness from the back room team (Frank?!) to haven’t of changed something to give more support.

Not his best game tonight, but needs to figure out how to get more from these referees.

Unlucky with his two chances. But needs to stop getting so involved with CB's.
I can see him getting sent off before the end of the season. He is getting more petulant and frustrated and having no time on the ball (if it even gets to him) and no support in the final 3rd. If TF doesn't sort out our bland forward play quick, we may also find our main goalscorer suspended.

...............I would get goals in last season's side whilst playing in my finest threads and leather soled fringed tassel loafers................

You'd have to take the hat off though...

Toney has been sent something pretty nasty tonight tonight on his Instagram, wont share it here but you only need to check his story out if you are able. Absolutely disgraceful, people are sick.

He responded with 'Honestly I'm done'

When will the likes of Instagram, Twitter, Facebook take responsibility for allowing their forums to be used like this.... I despair I really do.

I don't think he was isolated at all today, Canos and Mbeumo both got near him as the two Mads pushed forward and they came more central. He was put in twice and should really have scored the second one, hitting it straight at the keeper. I feel he's getting frustrated and it's affecting his game. He's giving too many free kicks away and seems to have lost his composure a bit in front of goal

You can only hope one day these people can somehow be outed. These animals need to be taught their actions have consequences. It's a sad sad world we live in.

But it can change tomorrow, all they have to do is make people verify there identity. They choose not to..

Whilst it won’t eradicate it completely it will reduce it significantly, people shouldn’t be able to set up accounts without being able to be traced back to them.

Apart from the obvious... who on Earth is feeling frustrated toward the guy who scored 28 or so goals for us so far this season!?

There really is a lot of sc*m in this society...

Agree with your post! I think that as the season has progressed more, and more of our play has been directed to Toney, understandably maybe, but we have changed our system to accomodate him for obvious reasons, but have now reached a point where it would appear to be, stop Toney stop Brentford. Toney is clearly frustrated, and the team is frustrated, but there are few mugs in this league, and most defenders are top quality, and they will give no one an easy passage in this the business end of the season.

The disgusting racist abuse of Ivan Toney on social media puts the sh*tty result tonight into perspective - what a disgrace and sincerely hope the person culpable gets the book thrown at him.

Worst thing for me, in seeing recent events, is that players will think twice about coming here if this is how some of our "fans" treat players, maybe he will seek a move sooner rather than later.

I don't think it's an isolated thing by any stretch. All football clubs have the same issue. Toney's getting it because he's got the balls to speak out and confront it.

One of the biggest plus for me this afternoon was seeing Toney score from open play. 29 goals and counting.

Loved his work today - sacrificed himself for the greater good but caused a massive problem to Preston who didn't know what to do with him. Great game.

The cavalry arrived today to back Ivan up.

He's carried a lot of expectation, with scant reward, over the past few games.

I think he'll score a few more now if the other lads can keep a bit of pressure off him. :hat:

See what happens when we change formation & introduce underused personnel for more support. This should’ve happened a while back, but here we are now... Let’s hope we’ve got our mojo back
