Actually thought he was having an average game up until the sending off - he then kicked into beast mode. His defending from set pieces is ridiculously good.
Agreed, he seemed to focus much better after that. Taking on the responsibility I guess? Did he or Norgaard take the captains armband?

Im sure he will be gutted if he doesnt make it to 30, i know i will be. Think he will get a few more in the last few games and go into the play offs on form

Who votes on this award?
Isn't this the one Ollie won last season? So an independant panel chooses the winner I believe. It isn't one of those voted for by supporters, thankfully! As these are weighted towards the bigger clubs!

IT won the L1 version last season too! So nominated twice!

Buendia and Pukki were/are Premier League players so should rightly be IT.
But they both played in the championship and it is the championship player of the season. You could exclude Toney because he played Newcastle once upon a time.

Well done IT.

Needs to get this bloody goal now.

Didnt like the frustration at that throw in near the end.

hate to say it but it's obviously preying on his mind.. He's snatching at any chance he gets. Thought that one from Marcondes' through ball was in though but bounced the wrong way off the post. The free kick was ridiculous though!! Come on Ivan, stop thinking about it and it will come!

What a player we have here.

He looks tired to me. If that is the case, he needs to be professional and take rest. Our promotion is alot more important than one player reaching 30.

Thought he looked pretty fresh still when chasing down in the last seconds last night. Too much emphasis on 30 goals, if we win games and he contributes I don't care of he stays on 29.

It is possible he’s physically fresh but not mentally, I suppose. But as with Forss’s recent misses, it might just be in our heads because in a game of fine margins he’s been six inches out while doing everything right. He’s a very unselfish player and while he will want the personal achievement of 30+ goals he’s all about the team.

30.

He’s now beaten Stan Bowles and Johnny Brooks’ record of 8 penalties in a season in the football league.

IT has scored 9. (Watford, Forest, Derby, Blackburn, Wycombe, Watford, Blackburn, Rotherham and Millwall).

Plus, he’s equalled Stan Bowles’ total of 9 in a season. :sorted:

Those are his new Club or equalled Club records :)

IT is also the first Brentford footballer to score 30 or more in the second tier. Only Dave McCulloch (31) had scored 30 or more in the top two tiers previously. :)

A reminder:
Bill Lane
1929/30 Div 3(S) 33
Jack Holliday
1932/33 Div 3 (S) 38
Dave McCulloch
1936/37 Div 1 31
Jim Towers
1958/59 Div 3 (S) 32
Steve Phillips
1977/78 Div 4 32
Ivan Toney
2020/21 Championship 30

Closest a keeper got to saving one today he tried the move right then go left and was off his line and still never laid a glove on it.
The best penalty taker for us since Stan Bowles without a doubt.

For me the main reason he should play is actually to progress the partnership understanding between him and Forss.
A valid point but I can’t help feeling the ‘reward’ of him and Forss having one extra game partnership or keeping up momentum are not as big as the ‘risk’ to our season should he pick up an injury.
