In fairness, AB managed to carve out a decent pro career if not with us. I recall him making a save when we got spanked away to Norwich which was out of the top drawer

I would say purely based on talent Bonham is second choice ahead of Daniels but suspect latter has signed in to be such whereas Bonham needs to get first team games under his belt at his age . Tough being a goalie as few opportunities unlike outfield players who can play In more than one positions generally and also can make substitute appearances to find a way into team

That was the game (0-4 IIRC) and I believe that the assistant referee in question quit in the days after the game. Speaking as somebody who was a referee (got to Conference and Premier League Reserve level), I feel somewhat qualified to say that the gentleman that night had a day to forget. However my main memory is that someone had smuggled a blow up doll into the bees end which was constantly passed over everyones heads and provided more entertainment than the team that night!

Have to say that I’m surprised that he hasn’t found a gig yet.
He was more than decent at Carlisle and I wonder if we want to keep him as extra cover or if someone will come in for him.

If he is going, loan or sale, I doubt that he would move until the club were quite sure that no one was in for either Bentley or Daniels. Sale then tomorrow or loan later. Like you I expect us to enter September with just two goal keepers with the added insurance that can recall Balcombe if needed.

Unless we sell him today, last summer's activity has back-fired somewhat. If we end up sending him out on loan again it'll end up with him being out of contract and then going for nothing... which he might just as well have done last summer without being offered a new deal.

I think he’s quite highly rated. Actually wouldn’t surprise me if he signed a new contract!

We're at the stage where the squad minimum should consists of two outfield players for each position, plus 3 'keepers, so it could be that he's just part of the squad, end of. This also spells the end of 'utility players', too.

Wrong thread but it may be he's 'utility' cover short-term until he becomes the competition for right back in the long term.

I’m pretty sure he would sign an extension if offered and I suspect one will be. I’m not convinced that he won’t grow into a championship keeper and the fact he’s still here suggests that the club aren’t ready to part company yet. An extended contract would probably be something his agent would suggest he signs. He could possibly go out on loan again, prob div 1, or the plan may be to progressively move him to the #2 spot

Yes, but I believe he’s out of contract at the end of the loan, so if he has a good season (and I think he will - I think he’s a decent keeper at L1 level) then I guess he will wander off to a good contract elsewhere without recompense for the Bees

Not necessarily. Don’t think you have to name a GK amongst your subs. Same as you don’t have to name the max. No. of subs if you don’t have them available. Limits your options though.

Yep every game he's played for us apart from the Hull game. Also seen most of Bonhams game for us including his last one against Barnsley. Whilst he has improved not as good as Daniels.
