It wasn't an easy chance - watch the highlights. He had to be hit first time and there wasn't a massive space to hit. Agreed it wasn't the best execution, however let's not hang an exciting, young player FFS
Always the same when we lose. OTT reactions and everyone's crap. We lost, get over it, we move on.

Not the easiest of chances at all. So lets not take it out on a talented young player because we lost a tight London derby.

We are 4th in the league and go from going up to needing numerous panic signings in January.
Zamburek is class and will get better the more he plays.
.............more sense spoken..............

on his wrong foot too. it's encouraging that he's got into a couple of great positions, and i'm sure he's as disappointed as anyone not to have converted. but this is the point of experience, right? he needs to learn what he needs to improve, so that next time he gets such a chance, he does better with it.

He will be feeling awful tonight so he really needs and deserves our support.

Are these cretins giving him grief on Twitter on GPG?
I suspect they are the gobshites happy to offer out Millwall from the safety of the away stand but would swallow their knobs if they met them in Borough Market.
Jan got in the right position and we all groaned but there should be no criticism of him tonight

To mount a genuine automatic promotion push to suggest that we need a more experienced bench is not an overreaction. I think Zam could be a fantastic player, but our bench has had way too much reliance on B-Teamers over the last few months.

Once we get a couple of attacking players in, it will help. If we don't go up then Zamburek can possibly be a big figure next season. He is very promising but he fluffed a big chance against Blackburn and should have done better here also, even if it didn't go in. I think he has an exciting future but he's still developing and young.

He wasn’t the reason we dropped 3 points today

exactly, he was a lot more effective than a load of the more senior pros out there today regardless..

No doubting the lads potential and he looks comfortable on the ball and takes up great positions. No criticism from me for the shanked shot however it was our clearest opening today.

Jan should have done better but the fact he had a clear chance in a 20 min cameo compared to Said is a big statement

Good prospect, but lacks composure when it matters. Needs to work on finishing, Blackburn and yesterday are prime examples.

His finishing for the B team has been excellent, guess it’s just that step up when maybe you have to react that little bit quicker. Also hadn’t been on the pitch that long

He looks to get involved and was in the right place for the chance. 18! He's going to be some player.

With Emilio and hamil coming in the very near future, i'd except him to feature more for the B team again. I would kind of suggest sending him on loan somewhere for 1 month / rest of season

Hes a superb talent but needs game time (and gym time)

Exactly - we have got a good young player on our hands and he just snatched at it. Still remember the many misses Gray did against Derby away and Vibe against Reading in his last game. They weren't bad players.

I'd like him to get a haircut also - noticed the number of times against Swansea when he was flicking his hair back with his hand :D

Considering his age he has performed well in his cameo role. Some people need to get off his back especially it was one moment where he froze given the opportunity to score an equaliser. Some of our experienced players have done the same during the season. The loss was due to a Raya error which again can happen despite him having a wonderful season.

He takes up really intelligent positions and that made a real difference in re-asserting control of the game on Boxing Day. Maupay and Vibe took plenty of flak for missed chances before they settled into the team but it will be disappointing if such a talented youngster has to overcome similar negativity.

Didn't quite but set up a goal and looked really lively when he came on. His movement off the ball is first class and he gets involved with intelligent pressing and passing. He's going to be a hell of a player for us.. Didn't seem to be at all phased by the miss at Millwall.. Looking forward to seeing him get 90 mins against Stoke on Sat..

Looks completely and utterly comfortable, as if he has been playing in the first team for a couple of seasons. Another gem off the production line!

I wouldnt have been surprised if he had started over xmas period. Like you say, he looks that assured. The one misstep is missing a gilt edge chance at the Den which shouldn't be counting against him at all.

It was not a "gilt-edged chance". Get over yourself.

Maybe the wrong term but its a mere blip upon his otherwise brilliant contribution to the team of late.

Just re-read the article linked in the first post on this thread, shows what a great job the DoFs and all behind the scenes do to "sell" the club and it's ethos to these lads, fantastic job all round.

Zamburek appears to have played for the B team in France today along with Yearwood. Guessing that means neither will be in the squad for Sat? Bench for Dervisoglu?

Is Wednesday lunchtime - Saturday afternoon a sufficient gap to play? Dunno is my answer... I suspect you’re right, if only because it’s away with a majority of defenders (if you can) on the bench. Nice to be able to rotate and reward subs again, though.

If we were to get another winger in, or even not with Halil and Marcondes in now, would it be beneficial to see Zamburek on loan to a top League One side? AFC Wimbledon wouldn't be ideal I imagine but then it didn't do Forss any harm.

He’s doing well enough here and I think it best to have as full a squad as possible for the run in. If we go up we could probably get a fairly sizeable loan fee for him to a Championship club! If we don’t, he might become a starter for us.

It is as likely to be on bench Saturday and more game time under his belt the better .

I thought he had a great game but several others have said he was poor. Need to watch it back to see if I’m wide of the mark. Anyone else have any thoughts on his performance.

Thought he was excellent! He pressed really well and linked up play well, had a good effort saved, put in a fantastic cross second half, caused them lots of problems. He’s only 18!

I thought he got himself alot more involved than he did against stoke but personally dont think he was anywhere near mom material. Not terrible either mind. Just had a fair few moments where he didnt look totally in control and wasnt on the same wave lengths as others. I seem to be in the minority though, just felt there were a handful og players who did better

I can see why he gets mixed reviews, technically he is good and gets on the ball and keeps possession well. He also works hard and seems to follow the game plan... all of this will endear to his coaches.

At the same time he often plays the percentage, sometimes negative pass, when a more attacking pass is available. Also due to his work rate he sometimes appears to be chasing shadows but i think this is just his willingness to work and perhaps a lack of ‘pitch geography’ that will come with maturity.

Ultimately he is 18 and the fact he is getting sniff at that age shows how much the management believe in him and his potential. He will improve and likely become a key part of the squad in the coming years.
