Looked like the Jan we remembered, slick on the ball.

Game management though young man, after 92:15 with a 1-0 lead you do NOT cross to the striker when the corner flag is a clear route!

How the hell didnt he get into Shrewsburys team!

Certainly helped run down the clock and was instrumental in holding and passing the ball. Considering his age he will develop into a Brentford type of player and at the moment a useful squad player.

It might have been a bit more comfortable if we had brought him on earlier which is a real positive sign.

So good to see him back. He's such a ball of energy and full of ability too. Felt he should have come on earlier as Ghoddos was shot and he gave us that energy and movement going forward that we were missing without Marcondes. Played some clever balls too and was free in the box a couple of times screaming for the ball.

Delighted he’s back. We were missing JDS, Norgaard, Emiliano and Baptiste today so having his energetic bursts helped get us over the line. Welcome home

Agreed. He should have come on mid way through the second half as Ghoddos had not surprisingly gone and we had lost the midfield.

considering he's only been back 5 mins last night was surprisingly good. Another few weeks on the training ground playing with the bigger boys will bring him on leaps and bounds

Seem to remember when he had a spell before coming on as a sub that he was good at helping us to run the game down as he is excellent at keeping the ball and has so much energy. Could be very useful over the next few months.

Nice little cameo from JanZam including a lovely assist for Toney's goal...
If we don’t bring in anybody for wide positions or attacking midfield he is going to be an important player for us for rest of season. More naturally can play the wide attacking role than Forss.

Good experience for him today, a good lengthy substitute appearance against a physical team in a competitive match.

Looked lacking in a little bit of match sharpness on a couple of occasions, but demonstrated also glimpses of quality. Showed a really good bit of close control, skill and vision to keep the ball in play, past a Boro man and then play Henry in down the left flank in one move.

With Emiliano out it is great to have him back and TF has no issues with throwing him in. Much promise for the future.

What a player.
He still has a long way to go - really seems to lack composure at times. But on the other hand, some of the "natural" elements to his game are mouth-watering - he takes up great positions, or makes fantastic runs... Great energy too. f*** knows what Shrewsbury were up to, but he's a very useful backup player for us in this situation.

For me when he comes on it needs to be wide. As he did today and to good effect last season. Don’t think he’s quite ready for the centre of midfield.

Amazing eye for a pass and able to deliver it too. Could be an important player come the spring when weather conditions not so abysmal and he has fresh legs against teams that are suffering fatigue

I would like to see more of Jan on Saturday. If not as a starter then hopefully he can get 30 minutes or so.
Certainly an argument for him coming on as a sub in wide areas. Seemed to prove successful at points last season.

Is it just me that thinks he should be used more as a sub? I think simply his energy and ability to break up play would have made him more favourable than other subs when we were trying to close the game down last night

Yep, a bit puzzled why we haven’t seen more of Jan Zam since he came back.....
Really rate him.

Is Žambůrek another Brentford player who gets better the less we see him?
possibly but a bit harsh on him to get stuck with that tag. Has undoubted qualities but certainly wouldn’t have considered putting him on v derby ahead of either ghoddos or Marcondes. It appears TF is trying to mitigate the issues of last season by opting for as much experience on the pitch as possible, which is exactly what people have wanted all this time. It’s hardly his fault that those experienced players completely lost their cool along with everyone else in the second half.

Fair to say he hasn’t trained on this year due to lack of game time. The shrews loan went tits up and he has at least 6 guys in front of him for our midfield 3. He hasn’t even stood out in some recent B team games.

Needs a loan next season to the right sort of club and to get 30 plus games under his belt.

Not yet at the same level as Marcondes and Ghoddos and imagine when JDS is back he might drop out of the squad. Will be a decent player for us, but maybe not until next season IMO

f***'s sake, can only presume it happened in training, given he completed the B team match on 4 April and hasn't featured for them or the B team since.
