Brentford FC have committed to a long-term future in the borough of Hounslow by signing a new lease for the Training Ground in Osterley. Brentford have trained at a facility in Jersey Road for around 15 years and the new 20 year lease, signed by Chairman Cliff Crown last week will ensure our presence in the area for at least the next two decades.

It will enable the Club to plan for the future in Osterley and continue our development in the local area as we prepare to move from Griffin Park, our home for 116 years, to a new stadium this summer. The lease also includes a licence to make significant improvements to the site in the future.

Here we go. Shall I go first.

Shocking news. Bloody ridiculous. Only extended for 20 years!!! What's wrong with this Club. All the money us supporters are putting in to the re-development of Jersey Rd and all the Club can do is negotiate a poxy 20 year extension. Club's rotten from top to bottom. Crown should be sacked and we all thought Benham knew what he was doing? Pathetic.

Right, that'll save anyone else piling on the negatives.

More good news!

I’m with NPB in this.
Keith from Southend told me that the extension was meant to be for 50 years but Benham only paid for 20 years and pocketed the rest.

Absolute ****ing scandal.

Also hearing rumours that LR won’t be completed and there won’t be enough money to get onions for the burgers.

Sort it out Brentford.

Thanks for mentioning the importance of onions in the burgers, I really don't want this to be overlooked in the new stadium.

The primary reason for building the adjacent monorail was to ensure timely deliveries of onions for each game.

We took out a 21-year lease on the orchard that later became Griffin Park!
If we hadn't think how much #Strongbow FJ could have consumed from the fruits of the orchard

I’m just hoping that they make Jersey Rd a Park And Ride Option For Lionel Rd would think you could get 50/60 cars in there

I don’t think anyone’s ‘piling on negatives’?

Just asking a fairly obvious question that given the investment we’re putting in to developing jersey road we might have expected/wanted a longer lease? It may well be that we have agreement to extend within the lease but it’s a perfectly valid question I’d have thought?

I'd take a guess that the bright people who run the Club got the best deal that they could.

I assume Matthew is happy as he is likely bank rolling the improvements.

Perhaps we'll have outgrown it in 20 years. There may be a local lower-league club still looking for a new training ground, anyway.

In view of Climate Uncertainty, twenty years is a pretty long commitment. In twenty years time, football may be sacrificed for other things. And a lease can be further extended, if things remain the same.

Agreed can't ask a normal question these days without being thrown into the Benham haters group! I'm sure we did get the best deal we can but as for lease extensions it's not that long

I won’t tell if you don’t.

Believe that’s how planning works. All above board until someone says otherwise.

Much more complex than that as you need to look out for the disgruntled jobs worth Fulham supporting pricks at Hounslow Council

Don't see why we can't grow our own onions
We sort of will, what was going to be the underground car park is now a large laboratory where massive onions are grown by artificial light and 'special additives'.

Rumours that one of the onions mutated into a thinking and talking being who was then put in charge of ticketing to keep it quiet are absolutely 100% probably not true.

Now we are nearing the end of this season usage. I thought it was said that the first stages of the redevelopment would start this close season.
Does anyone know when/if this is likely to start

I believe it was delayed to the next close season. This closed season is going to be 3 weeks, so not an ideal length of time to make such changes.

Ermmm.....Pass ?
As I understand it, the playing area at LR is bigger that GP. I think someone mentioned it's the same pitch size as Wembley?

Does anyone know the size of the pitches at JR?

If we're playing on a bigger pitch for half of our league games, would it not make sense to mirror the pitch size at the training ground?
