Jordan Rhodes - Set to join us later this week according to our board and quite a few papers. Was just wondering what you guys thought of him when he was on loan to you? Thanks

As good as a one-legged man at an arse-kicking party; send him back.

Did you search for any opinions before you posted asking for them?

Get the decision reversed, and send him back. Totally useless, never scores goals, and needs more time probably with a West London club, to produce his full potential.

He was good at first but drifted in and out of games can be a bit flash injury prone ok for free but wouldn't pay money for him.Hope that helps.Oh by the way I have heard that he is talking to Southend.

Loan or Buy?
can only see it being to buy, and wouldn't surprise me if our Huddersfield friend is just picking up on the quotes from Keane earlier this week about a bid turned down.
I would be surprised if he went, as HTFC must have bid at least £300K for him, which is some money for a 19 year old, and if loan was the option, we all know where he wanted to go.....

Thanks for the replies, there are rumoured to be two teams in for him, so Southend probably will be the second one, who knows. From whats been said its to be a permanent deal but I really couldn't tell you. Is he a target man or a pacy striker, because were in need of a target man?

He has the potential to be a complete centre forward. Great first touch, quick, clever and brave with an eye for goal.
I hate your club and always have, a large majority of fans are scummy, and Jackson seemed to pack his teams with nasty, whingy, never was types who invariably came to spoil and not play.

Jordan could be very good and for that reason I hope you don't get him.

If this is true then not good news for the Bees. But hey ho life goes on and we have to move on.

Was already a little worried about our strike force, but now a tinge of panic is setting in.

I met an ex-Ipswich Udders midfielder a week and a half ago who said that his club were after Jordan. He also said that his mate Billy's first choice was BFC but that the manager had changed his attitude towards him after the season ended and wouldn't guarantee him a first team place and wanted him to curb his temperament. I trust AS's judgement. Let's see what happens.

Can i just say when i put that on earlier it didd't say that we have agreed a deal with ipswich only that Huddersfield did. Going by that we are in with a chance.

You'll probably find that someone on here did that.

I think its safe to say that a Brentford fan has put that on, probably one on here.

I think we need a reality check here - Rhodes is not going to join us permanently this transfer window.

It's either loan or we move on.

Yes, and for the love of God can we just sodding well move on? PLEASE?

I'm beginning to hope he doesn't come back as we've built him up far too much and will probably end up disappointing or just sodding off back to Ipswich just when we need him most.

If AS hung his hopes on one player we'd be up sh1t creek without a paddle. He's not that stupid and will have other options. Rant over.

Irrespective of whether we get him back on loan or not I just cannot see that a permanent move to Huddersfield makes much sense to either him or Ipswich

Neither does a move to us. The only way it makes sense is if someone stumps up sh*tloads of money - and tbh, I hope that's not us.

You know what, it wouldnt bother me in the slightest if he joined someone else. I quite liked him for sure and he did well, but FFS was he really as good as some make out?

If we signed him I would see it as a good thing, that I admit, but I certainly wouldnt be doing cartwheels all over the place and expecting 20 goals a season. I would see it as a free transfer with potential, not the sure thing 300K should bring you in the 3rd division.

If you take the fantastic hat trick at shrewsbury out of the equation then his goals per games was not great for a 4 th division team. He actually failed to score in 9 of his 14 games for us.

I would take Billy Clarke over him any time.

Rhodes to Huddersfield

Rhodes is different gravy to Clarke in my book - Premiership quality in the making - Clarke is Championship at best.

I'm with Maidenhead Bee on this one (perhaps it's a Berkshire thing).

We have our two biggish target men sorted in Nathan and Ben, I don't dispute that JR is/will be a better player than both, but what we need is an experienced sniper to play off them in the Charlie Mac, Billy Clarke, Michael Owen way.

Strength in depth is great, but only if all primary positions/roles are adequately resourced.

JR is still a work in progress. His initial impact on us was massive but i got the feeling that the 2 games a week routine he inherited was a little bit too much for him at the time and that he got tired and slightly jaded particularly when he went a few games without scoring.

The early goal against Wycombe revived him and he had a really good game only to get injured next time up v Chesterfield.

I think that he is now a little older, wiser, stronger and more experienced and that whoever has his services this season will really benefit.

I don't think we can invest a six figure transfer fee on anyone, even if we get cash from Turner being sold. Nor (IMHO) can we sign anyone if we have to pay them twice the wages of the next highest paid (I'm not suggesting Rhodes is asking for that, just setting out a principle) as that will cause problems.

I'd love us to get Rhodes back on loan, but if another club offers Ipswich and the player what they want, then we wish him good luck in 44 of next season's matches and try to get another good loanee

I kind of agree, sure AS has other irons in the fire in case Rhodes not available.

Rhodes has potential and is still very young and far from the finished article. However, I think he had something about him and there were shades of Deano about certain parts of his game. I still trust that we will get the attacker AS wanted to start up front.

The guy who tipped me off about Rhodes when he was just a first year pro thinks that Ipswich would be mad to sell him and sees him as a premier forward within the next 2 years and as a scout with years of experience he doesn't say that about many of the youngesters he ha scouted.
We cannot expect to compete with Huddersfiled financially this season and they no doubt will be offering him a big pay rise from what he already earns. We just need to settle down and wait to see who AS now has in mind, there are plenty of loan potentials out there and I expect some movement next week as we near first game.
