Obviously the med teams know best, but I’d rather see him back slightly overdue if that makes sense. I think we will stay up without him so hopefully he doesn’t rush himself back. A few cameos in the Spring then a full preseason ready to go next season would be ideal.
If he’s fit, he should take his chance. We’re not a philanthropic institution. The reports about him last May were that he could maybe make a return last September, so we’re definitely not rushing him.

If he is out on the grass and kicking a ball now then why should it take the rest of the season to get fit again?

We’re talking about a young man here, with hopefully a good few years of his career left, possibly if he is as good as he was, at PL level. A short term view is not in his or the club’s best interests

He has had an injury to his hip, and had resurfacing possibly (similar to A.Murray) I don't think we have had any player with a similar injury,
so very difficult to gauge what will occur when training ramps up.

Are you paying his wages? He'll be back when he's fit and ready.

Hope he comes back at least as good as he was, if not better. Just hoping.

Our best player. Will make such a difference.
I suspect he won't for a very long time (as said above, remember how long it took for the 'old Sergi' to return to form). People need to be patient as he returns to match fitness and match toughness after so long out.

But if we can get that magical 40 points by March-ish I'm all for the rest of the season being preseason-before-preseason for the next campaign.

Great news but still wary that he has been out for a long time so will be a few weeks until he makes the squad and longer to hopefully get back to the level he was at pre-injury. Would be like a new big money signing in January and look forward to see him pulling on the shirt again.

Favourite player of the past few seasons , absolute baller and arguably the one most ready for the Prem ! BUT as others have said we need to give him time and patience to get up to speed . Probably won’t see the best of him till next season but the wait will be worth it I’m sure !!

Hope no bids come in for him this window, really want to see that drop of the shoulder and left foot rocket move again.

Unlikely I'd say. Been out a year why would anyone risk big bucks before he's even kicked a ball in anger. Going to be like a mega new signing for us.

So a reasonable chance he'll be stepping over the white line before this season ends? 🙏

On the bench for the Arsenal match, 19th Feb, perhaps?

Maybe it's time to remove the "long term injury" from the thread title!

Can't wait for JDS to be back. This kind of table (for all non 'big 6'/'superleague' teams) backs up what we've all been seeing all season - our players rarely attempt to take on their man. And it's stifling our ability to create chances from open play, because we're not breaking the lines. No player even makes the list...Screenshot 2022-01-11 at 10.28.38.png

JDS I'm sure would top this list within a few weeks - his return can't come soon enough

JDS/Raya/Eriksen making their BCS comebacks/debuts in the same match.

What are the chances? 🤡

I have to be honest gents...I may have to go have some 'private' time when he makes an appearance this season.

Too extreme?
Nothing wrong at all with showing the man love.

I suspect the trick will be to manage expectations as it’ll take JDS time to be fully match fit. Saying that, I’ve always had him down as a PL player in the making and he’s got the capability to make a real difference in the last dozen games or so.
