We've got flair forwards coming out of the jaxxy. Not enough room on the bench any more.

Just looking at what we have now up front who would you leave out if he'd even make the squad. Great player who I loved. Great memories. Move on not for us now. Mr Warburton might be interested at no cost though.
No thanks. We were good to him in his time of need. He was great then. Went to a 'bigger' club. Be sad if he ended up playing for that shower of sh*t down the road.

Loved him when he was a Bee, but he decided to move on and so have we. Not sure that he would even make the bench these days. He must be approaching 30, and generally that's past the age limit that we would be interested in.

Theres still a player there, his problem is he joined two clubs that never took to him.

Do i actually want him back? Nah, that letter and the move to Brum was enough for me. He moves down the road to that lot and he deserves all the abuse under the sun.

Yes. But Benrahma might be saying the same thing in a few days time. There's a ready made, unemployed replacement out there who might be available for £8.72 an hour. ;)

I'm pretty sure Ghoddos is seen as Benrahma's replacement.

Do you mean as good as Jota was or as good as he is now, having his contract terminated by Aston Villa? There's a big difference!
As good as he was, obviously. Is he not that good now? Not sure why people are assuming he isn't just because he hasn't got on in a city that uses wood instead of glass for windows? Who knows? 🤷

Is his missus in the UK or in Spain? Given the wider environment...it may be that he wants to be closer to family if he’s not getting regular game time and the money isn’t really an issue! Smith has been sympathetic to that position before!

I don’t really understand. He hasn’t had a good season for absolutely ages, and we’ve got about 17 wingers.

Hope he's as good as Jota then. :)

He‘s probably better. In fact, Fosu is better, too - and he’s infinitely more adaptable. We’ve got too many forwards as it is, right now. Adding another into the mix would be too difficult for TF to manage.

Just leave it mate. We’ve all had a drink, and he’s not worth it.

Wait and see if he sends a love letter pleading to come back, saying how much he misses us and wish he'd never left.

If the club thought he was worth offering a contract to I’d not criticise it. But as with most on here I don’t think he’s half the player he was and I don’t really see him as much more than a sub for Mbeumo. The way we play now and the high energy and defensive work expected of our forwards are not something he has any capacity for. He’s faded to the point where I wouldn’t be too sad to see him join QPR.

What is it with footballers and salaries? Surely if he's been on around £40k a week for the last 3-4 seasons, money doesn't really matter anymore? I mean that's about eight million quid (less tax and stamps obviously). You think they'd just play where they're happiest after that, surely?

(Golden) egged on by their agent(s)?

I doubt he will get anywhere near £40k a week wherever he goes next. He has had his big money moves and made his ££££ so will probably have to accept a lot less next.

Players don't lose the skills they have so at aged 29 if someone could get him motivated, play him and are able to fit him into their team to get the best out of him then he would make a very good signing, especially as he comes with a free transfer effectively. Could that be us? I doubt it in spite of us playing a style of football that would suit him, he just doesn't fit our recruitment model.

Good luck to him wherever he goes next.

On the right side of a three man attack, Mbeumo is ahead of Jota in selection & value in the transfer market.

If BM goes on a run of form like last season's finale, when he looked shattered due to Covid/intensity of a new league, then Jota would be an adept alternative. An alternative role isn't going to suit Jota, hence his Villa Exit, nor those in the squad now.

His best work for Brentford was on the right, so wouldn't be an option if Benrahma went either.

I don't think he's needed at Brentford.

And he’s not versatile enough to be an easy pick for the subs. Imagine having to bring him on to play RB or central midfield!

I would have him back, a lot of our old players suit us and look poor everywhere else.

Disagree. I reckon he would be brilliant for us again. And I'd bring back Sweetzer and Stevie Phillips at the same time. :)
Oh, and Martin Allen. Obviously.

And Murray Jones :confused::confused:
I remember refereeing Sittingbourne in the Southern League many moons ago. One of their players heard I was a Bees fan and pulled me aside and said ‘we signed Murray Jones a few weeks ago: what did you make of him at Brentford?’ I gave him a fairly forthright view and he nodded and said ‘yup. He can’t get anywhere near our first team: can’t see what anyone ever saw in him’!

I’m not too sure, but I’m pretty sure he was signed on the viewing of a video. Can’t really blame the lad for not being up to it, more the person who made that decision.

Those were the days. Nowadays we mess around spending money on Phil & Rasmus to study expected goals ratios and who knows what and all you really need is a Sony Betamax player...
