Konsa has started the season better than Mepham surely?
Didn't see Blackburn game but he's been very very good otherwise.

It won't happen obviously but I think this would be pretty fierce:

(the pace of those CBs could cover attacks pretty well, and play out from the back, with our two most creative players ahead, waiting to distribute it to Henry, Odubajo, Watkins, Benrahma, and Maupay, all bombing forward in different directions)

Julian's time will come, Mepham needs to play so we can get maximum value from him .

Julian plus Mepham for me. Very harsh on Konza, I know, but Jeanvier is more of an imposing presence from what I've seen. Does all the things a Brentford CB should, with purpose, pace and style. And looks like he has a goal in him. Ezri's time will come.

Would get into any other Championship team IMO but so hard right now for him to be selected ahead of Konsa and Mepham. Thought he did well when he came on. His time will come ...

I know they were down to ten men but JJ looked awesome when he came on. Picked out some fantastic passes. I suspect we'll see more of him over the next 3 weeks...

Thought he looked a bit nervous for the first 5 minutes, which would be expected. Grew into the game and unlucky not to score.

He looks to be a fantastic player, just don’t know how we can fit him in at the moment. What a luxury to have!

We'll need to rotate with the number of games coming up, and JJ should get his chance to get some more games in England under his belt and get a feel for the pace of the game at the Championship level.

I'd play him against Ipswich and rest Mepham in view of Mephams two international games recently and the several knocks he took yesterday. Keep him for Derby. Mokoto for Mc Leod and Canos for Behrama would be my other changes.

Suspect that's a decent call

Why Canos for Benrhama? No international duty for the latter and he has not played too many full 90 minutes. Otherwise I would bring in Nico and Kamo into midfield and give JJ a game, along perhaps with Josh Clarke at RB.

Reckon he’ll start at Arsenal, wouldn’t change the other two in the league as both look majestic at the moment.

What a great position for the club to be in, a strong squad where we can rotate with weakening. Hope Jeanvier does well, will be a test for him.

He’s looked superb so far in the cup games so let’s hope that continues today

A level below Ezri Konsa and Chris Mepham.
I thought Konsa was disappointing at Ipswich so I wasn't surprised that Jeanvier came in. As it happened, Derby played a blinder today so difficult to judge him individually. I thought he did okay. Problems were elsewhere I thought.

Was on a different wavelength to Mepham today. For the second goal Chris pushed up, JJ dropped back, left Nugent onside and clean through.

I thought he looked ok. Good use of the ball. Problems were further up the pitch

And you base this judgement on his 1st league start in English football against apparently a very good side - bit harsh is an understatement.
I remember comments last year on Mepham first start last year when some said not ready for the Championship and maybe a loan would do all parties good. Look at him now.

Struggled today but we need to give him time to adapt and develop. Noticed 2 or 3 times that team mates didn’t have the confidence in him to give him the ball when he was the best option.

A tough game for him but saw enough to suggest that he is a good player. Can’t recall him making a mistake but might need to look at the highlights to be sure. He didn’t excel but few did.

Nervous for the first 30 minutes but grew into it. A real baptism of fire! Can't really say he played particularly well but he didn't have much (any!) protection in front or to his right. Not the right game to judge him on.

It’s going to take him a good 6 months to get to grips with this league and the environment. People need to give him time.

I don't think it will, he looks more than capable. Didn't do anything particularly wrong and played some good balls forward. He'll be fine..

Surprised by positive comments. Jeanvier kept hoofing the ball up field in situations that Konsa usually remains calm, finds a pass or goes on one of his 25 yard runs forward

Thought the same...their understanding isn’t quite there yet! I thought individually JJ looked athletic, confident on the ball and showed some good vision with his distribution and overall a pretty exciting player...just felt he left Mepham exposed a couple of times!

I wasn't there so can't really comment on his performance but I do think it was a bit odd to break up the Konsa-Mepham partnership when they had clearly developed an understanding.

It feels to me like we were looking for an excuse to get Jeanvier into the team and Konsa's less than perfect display at Ipswich provided it but in hindsight it was probably the wrong move.

I was disappointed with him at Derby but the whole team had an off day which didn't help. Certainly not writing him off as I expect and believe he will become an excellent addition over time.

Anyone know why he wasn't on the bench today? Injured? Will need him on Wed at Preston..

Was that his fault? Couldn’t really see it tbh. Looked like they had 3 or 4 players unmarked, we totally switched off..
One unmarked, the lad who scored. Who he should have been covering. He went up with Barbet against one of there’s and left him unmarked. There’s other crap that went on from other team mates that didn’t help defending a point at that stage though.
