I can see why K's fans dislike hearing what the Board has to say, but is that the same as the Board being incorrect/misleading in what their statement? (Unsure).

True, but the K's Board is telling us that they are exceeding their obligations. Is the Board lying? (Unsure)

Do you have some insight into that which you'd like to share?

I could be wrong, but I suspect that K's would have been homeless and/or bust (or even non-existent), had AFCW not come along when they did, since the Khoslas were never going to do anything to save the club from the mess it was in, and the Council weren't much better.

As I see it, AFCW bought K's time, which they unfortunately haven't been able to use to extricate themselves from the mess they've been in for some years now.

What exactly have AFCW done to "play their part in the demise of K's"?

They were going bust before AFCW were even involved, having been raped by the Khoslas.

I don't like or dislike AFCW or K's either.

It's just as someone who's very nerdishly interested in these things, I see it as being a case of a club which had been poorly run for some time before eventually being shafted by the Khoslas, such that they had nowhere else to go (literally) until AFCW came along and permitted them to stay on at the ground, thereby giving them time to sort themselves out.

AFCW didn't have to keep them on, and can hardly be blamed when the K's haven't been able to restore their club in the meantime (imo).

Sorry, its taken me a long time to reply.

The board's comments are weak and didn't really put up much of a fight. Having read an article (by a K's fan) in the latest edition of WSC it seems clear that the K's board have to be diplomatic and not cause any fuss if they want to receive the "generous donation" from AfcW/Chelsea.

I don't believe K's would have been homeless as the Khosla's wouldn't have been able to sell Kingsmeadow for housing etc. as far as I understand. They may have gone bust - but of course they could have reformed.

Wimbledon bought K's ground for a massively inflated price which priced out K's of ever buying it back - that was before the ground developments increased its value even further. They have nicked local support and talent. I think that for a start has played apart in the demise of K's.

AFCW 'bought' K's 12 years in which to sort out their financial problems and put together the funds to buy back a lease on Kingsmeadow or find somewhere else to play.

For whatever reason, they have failed to do so.

In other words, if you took AFCW out of the equation, they would likely have gone bust in 2002/03.

Taking the Women out of it, isn't part of K's problem that not enough locals were turning out to watch their own "proper football team"?

As I have said above - the potential is there as per their conference days. K's have Chelsea building megastores in their high street, the fairy tail rise of Wimbledon on their doorstep, Qpr have had premiership glory, Fulham have had prem glory and offer very cheap tickets, Chelsea have huge support in the area and have had a great decade, Brentford has been given a new lease of life thanks to Mr B, Palace are enjoying some happy days - its such a hard area to attract support yet K's still get respectable crowds.

Yes, especially these bits:

Ks future is uncertain. But it has been uncertain since administration and Wimbledon have done little to exacerbate Ks’ problems. I’m one of the “some” that, Ian wrote, “argue that Kingstonian have only been able to continue for as long as they have as a result of (Wimbledon’s) munificence.” Perhaps my detachment from the situation has bred some of this optimism. Indeed, I accept that I may be alone again in my views. But I believe Wimbledon have given Ks the opportunity of a future by the way in which they have framed the Kingsmeadow sale. And Ks, fans and directors alike, should grab it.
What exactly is that opportunity though?

With Wimbledon moving out at some time , why can't Kingstonian stay at their home ?

Chelsea have bought it so that their Youth teams can play in front of a crowd rather than behind closed doors at Cobham

And also the Women will move there to play from Staines ground

Leatherhead fans wasn't to happy that kingstonion planning to move on to there patch !

Certainly not Leatherhead's patch but is Chessington and Hook's patch. What becomes of them, the knock on effect of all this larger than some have considered.

Chessington's ground has not been played on since 31st October due to ongoing waterlogging issues!

Wow, wasn't aware of that. Makes the viability of K's proposed new ground up the road uncertain.

So Chelsea have bought it off Wimbledon ?

*****, why don't they let Kingstonian share ?

With youth and women's football being played on the pitch they can't have K's as well I guess.

Local Derby on 26th March.

K's V Beavers.

No games as it's international weekend.

Big game as Hampton are going for the title, and Kingstonian can still make the Play Offs.

Blew it tonight but big win for Farnbro

K's did blow it, looked tired after lots of game recently and couldn't break down a 5 man defence and a Farnborough team that stuck to a negative, but effective, game plan.

Crowd of 291. Charlie Allen (martin's son) played for Farnborough.

http://www.afcwimbledon.co.uk/news/article/step-closer-to-return-home-3136730.aspx

The Dons Trust, the owner of AFC Wimbledon, is pleased to announce that contracts have been exchanged for the sale of Kingsmeadow stadium to Chelsea FC.

This is an important next step in the club’s plans to move to a new stadium in Wimbledon. The funds raised by the sale of Kingsmeadow represent a significant contribution towards the cost of the new stadium.

Although contracts have been exchanged the deal will not become final until a number of conditions have been met, including obtaining final planning permission for the stadium in Plough Lane and the transfer of the land on which the stadium will be built.
