Frank:
"We wanted to get another central defender in, and Kris was our first choice. We think he fits the position specific profile perfectly, especially on the ball.

But he also fits the way we want to recruit players and work with them. He can develop as a player and both Brentford FC and Kris can move to a higher level in the coming years."

A couple of nuggets from the release, they sound very happy on this one!

Sounds like a very good signing. Will bring extra stability to the defence. Three good CBs to choose from. Think Ethan will be the first pick. Toss up between the other two.

The most interesting aspect for me is that they've given him a 5 year contract. There can't be many clubs prepared to do so in these Covid times, never mind one which is not established in the PL. Yet.

And we must assume it will include a relegation clause, meaning both parties to the deal must be very confident it won't need to be applied. :sorted:

For such a big guy he does not have much of a goal scoring record. Only 4 goals in 111 appearances for Celtic.

Solid core, players to beat a press, Toney up top, Bryan and Sergi to shine.

Still think will be three at back.
Kris rcb
Pontus middle Centre back
Pinnock left Centre back
But I think Sorensen could well challenge hard for Ethan’s and Pontus’ place in team.
Goode and Racic to provide cover unless one moves on ?

I've been mentioning this guy for months, as the perfect Thomas signing and a player perfect for our model. I'm delighted the club's system thought the same and got this over the line. What a signing! A Celtic mate said to me he can play right back, be interesting to see if this happens with us! Welcome to the Bees Kris!

I think he'll be the central centre back of 3, an ex-DM who can free up Nørgaard to return to midfield duties, with Pinnock and Janssen on each side as the default.

Anyway, what do I know, welcome to the latest Brentford iteration, Kris!

Genius signing - could be Bees best ever given a bit of coaching and a smidgen of good fortune. The difference between consolidation in the Premier and a relegation dog fight. Very impressed we pulled this one off.

I’d rather him RCB and to keep Pontus back so he and Ethan are free to stride forward (not both at once!).

I think, in the Premier League, we're not going to be having 70% possession in many games (if any) and we'll get attacked at speed at every opportunity. We'll need defenders to defend and pass the ball forward quickly rather than striding forward and leaving gaps.

He hasn't been brought in to score goals, we already have those players, He is here to keep them out at our end, A good defence is the key in the Premier League.

You know how I feel about Pontus but I am not confident not Goode either. Jeanvier seems a liability. I prefer racic Sorensen and pinnock.individually not necessary as a back three.

He has stagnated a little since Rodgers & Tour left Celtic. The level of coaching has been poor since then & I feel Ajer will really benefit from Thomas Frank.
His positioning on offensive corners has been poor.

Though in Ajer we have just bought a CB whose biggest strength is his ability to drive out of defence with the ball before passing. That was also the difference made by norgaard when he deputised there and something Pinnock started doing towards the end of last season. High pressing PL teams are going to close off our passing outlets much more than they are going to go straight into our players when in possession (the opposite of the approach in the Championship and why I think Jensen will look better in the PL). So we need players who won’t be pinned back or lose possession by not having an immediately open outlet.

It stated Premier League signing pens the GK is a B Team signing so it would suggest another coming in

In fairness, they also said this regarding a goal in a friendly:

Whilst technically correct, I can't see this as being an answer in a pub quiz any time soon...

Christ on a bike! Is that all you have to offer? I'm quite a big guy but haven't scored much (in most respects) in my entire life.

Pontus hasn't scored for us in fifty-eight games. Is anyone complaining ? Also he only scored nine for Leeds in three years and some 115 games for them

And so it begins.

Welcome Kris.
Really looking forward to see what he brings.

I do hope that one of the addons isn't a pre season friendly,i never want them at our place again unless it's Champions League fixture :nono:
