Doesn’t look like he’s playing at all for the Chinese mob...could be worth bring back as back up for the second half of the season?

Would if fit be a handy signing to the end of the season as cover for Maupay.

Outside the transfer window. He can’t play in any games even if we did sign him.

If his contract came to a natural end, then he is a free agent and can register at any time, can he not?
It's only if his contract was cancelled with time to spare.

Our transfer window has ended until June. China’s is different so he would not be eligible.

Can you not sign unattached players outside the windows?

Not if they were attached when the window closed

I heard that his contract has been cancelled and he is a free agent, he will be training with us this week and if he is in good shape he can sign and platy for as he has only played for one team this season. Doesn't mean we want him but apparantly the option is available. This came from the 5-6 guys that do all the stats and free kick coaching etc who sit in front of me every game, they tend to know what happens in the changing room.

If his registration was cancelled by the Chinese club in January then he can sign for us. If it happened post 1 February, then he's not eligible, regardless of what you heard.

Only going by what I heard, they do work with the players every day so maybe they know more than us.

I suspect he was paid up in January. Just shows you what great business we did 14 months ago.

He could be good to have around the training ground, anyway, regardless of whether we sign him. The Swedish season starts 31 Mar, so he's more likely to train with us and try for a return there, I think the rumour was Goteborg.

Re your bold, that seems very possible.

Jon Champion (now with ESPN) mentioned on the radio the other day that a lot of overseas players are now getting very wary of signing for Chinese clubs, since they often don't get paid what they've been promised. With Lasse's club having been relegated last season, there's every chance they did it to him.

I assume BFC are too canny not to have got all the transfer fee up front.

P.S. Wonder about Nico?

Given he has hardly played for a year and maybe not had full training to our standards for the same I would very surprised if he was anywhere near the levels of fitness we need for the Championship.

Perhaps not as a 90 minute player but possibly enough to be decent cover for Maupay to come on for 20 minutes?

Neal can normally do the full 90 no problem unless he gets assaulted like at QPR or loses his rag like at Brum. Good to have Vibe as cover just in case he does get crocked or looks likely for an early bath.

Quite- I wasn’t suggesting tactical substitution other than those circumstances.

He scored 31 in 55 games for Gothenburg so that makes sense.

fully agree with the earlier poster who suggested that giving the likes of Forss game time is a better bet then re-signing Lasse, especially when this season is 90% done & dusted.
The B team is maybe our biggest differentiator & with the best will in the world, we will never have the budget to reach two quality players per position.
If we can blood a few B teamers at the fag end of this season & gain the confidence that 2,3 or 4 have the level to act as quality understudies & fill in capably for a handful of games next season, whilst developing themselves towards genuine first XI options, it will allow us to concentrate the budget on a few proper Brentford acquisitions (i.e young, very talented & just ready to explode on the scene)

:imwith:

However, I would be happy to see him as a coach. He must be getting to that age. Bright and an imaginative finisher, would be a good acquisition especially if he was still able to play, if needed.

It depends on how we are approaching the last dozen games of the season. While it is a tall order, I think the club is working as if we are still aiming for top 6 and will do so until we start to need "snookers" (ie not only winning every game but having one or more clubs plummet). We probably won't know that until the next time we fail to win at home. If we pick up 3 points out of the next 3 games it will still be possible so it might not be until the Wigan away game on 30th March that we know for sure. If we've got 6 points from those 4 games it will still be on.

So, blooding B teamers on the basis of getting them experience in effectively dead rubbers is not a strategy for a month. I'm sure we'd all like to get some decent results this month to push back the end of our competitive season. If we're doing that, I'd much rather have a decent short term back up for Maupay than throwing on B teamers under massive pressure to perform. But, as it sounds like unless Vibe was actually paid up in January he can't be signed, this is somewhat academic and we will just have to trust to TF's judgment about how ready B teamers are to step up if needed and hope we can keep going anyway.

I can't think they're thinking anything other than hitting the top 6, given the flakiness of the lg they'd be mad not to try and grasp this opportunity. I'd much prefer a squad of hungry players approaching each and every game with this aim than to drift into a comfort zone, it sets a very dangerous precedent.

Maupay has been our only first team squad striker since Lasse left. As otehrs have written, what would happen if Maupay missed the rest of the season? Surely, if Lasse is fit, signing him as short term cover until the end of the season, would be a great solution.

Fully agree that we go all out whilst it's still on, but any chance to reach the play-offs can easily be gone by this time next week.
If anyone is in touch with our genuine chances of making the play-offs, then it will be Matthew Benham.

As we get closer & closer to the seasons' end, there is less & less point in playing the Barbets & the McEachrans.
It would make much more sense to give game time instead to the likes of Sorenson & Oksanen to judge whether they can genuinely become active first team squad players next season.
Equally, I would prefer to give Forss a chance rather than bring Lasse in on a short term contract.
That money is surely better spent on next season's budget

The story is that he players live in a compound, take a bus to tarining and back and then take a bus to the games and back an d have no social life. True or not I don't know but it sounds like prison. 2 years of that, take you 5-10m, you make your choice I suppose.

Well if we can't get Lasse , maybe one last option as per Wikipedia...….. Murray Jones' failure to replace Dean Holdsworth's goals in Brentford's only season in the second tier between 1954 and 2013 has seen him named as the club's worst-ever signing....
