We struggled against him when he came on against us.
They have obviously utilised him better than we did.

Yeah by crocking him :D Seriously though, I think he was on the periphery of the team and probably the only goal he scored for them came against us :(

I liked Thorpe's attitude. Never took the soft way and earned his Bees wages .Can't imagine Brooker arm wresling. Worst injury he got was breaking a nail whilst knitting.

Just hilarious - will he never learn. he launched himself like a torpedo into a mid air 2 footed lunge.

What was even funnier was watchig the reaction of 2 of his team mates who just knew the red card was on its way.

Leopard and spots.....

I think he'd only been on as a sub for about 3 mins. Reminiscent of his debut for us last season when, after missing the first 3(?) games because of a suspension carried over from the previous season, he launched himself into a Barnet player and was off before half-time

I reckon Charlie would have enjoyed playing off him on today's evidence. Clearly has no pace but wins the scrappy balls and lays it off well.

We let him have free headers first half as he stood on Wilson's toes and James didn't have the strength to stop him. He was far less effective 2nd half when Phillips stood up to him. We definitely missed a trick here as we should have known all about Thorpe and Kev should have been backing into him to double up on him when the ball was in the air as many teams do with Elder. I don't think Dale's defence would have had a problem with Lee today TBH.

I thought he put in a very decent shift today, but is unlikely to get an easier time of it than our defence game him in the first half. I lost count of the times he was allowed, unchallenged, to chest and head the ball off to a team mate. It doesn't matter if you're much good or not, if you're afforded that sort of time, you'll do ok.

Such a shame, he had great potential

To be fair - at 34 years old, to still be playing at a good non league level after over 500 appearances and 100 goals suggests that he's a had a bloody good career.

Lee Thorpe scored the winner for Fleetwood at the weekend in the blue square north play off final. Thorpe, signed by Brentford after a tip off from Northampton Bee, apparently silenced the 3,500 crowd.
