Shame to see Leon go, but times move on. He was a committed, successful player for us and deserves a great reception when he next returns.

Team of the day again, the fans have really taken to him in the 7 games he has played. I believe 4 clean sheets in 7 is the stats so not bad at all, shouldnt be in league 2 in my opinion and im sure alot of fans here will agree

Looking on gillingfords site and leons twitter feed it looks like he's been playing well, some fans asking why we let him go for free

Answer: to benefit Leon giving him game time as at best he would only be a sub for us. Leon wins, Gillingjam win as do we in saving wages

I thought Uwe said we got something for him? Maybe it was a week in Sheerness, though.

Think Leon is easily good enough for a top 12 League 1 team, Gillingham have signed a superb defender for that level. Exactly what that league requires, a no nonsense, big strong center back

Sorry we have done this to death and whilst, following recent defeats, some might agree with you the vast majority won't

Glad he's doing well. Thought it was the right decision when he went and haven't changed my opinion.

Wonder if he's a little bitter about being sold even though we weren't exactly overflowing with center backs.

Congrats nonetheless

Leon has gone and it was entirely the correct decision.it was best for him as he is now an established first choice playing every week in a decent team where he will win a Championship medal.

Yes of course he would have played yesterday and next week given the Craig situation but he was never going to replace Dean or Craig and didn't want to sit on the bench or in the stands every week once he recovered from injury.

I also suspect his salary has gone towards funding one of our loanees now.

Getting rid of Legge almost certainly cost us promotion. To me, it is simply inconceivable that he wouldn't have scored at least one goal from a corner (or set one up for someone ele) that would have given us an extra point. Or would have prevented goals from being scored by being much less susceptible to making goal-giving mistakes. He's older and more experienced and that's what we needed at the end of the season to get over the line. It was a poor short-term decision to replace him at that time. It's difficult to criticise Uwe because of the great work he did for us, but we came so close that just an extra goal scored or the prevention of another goal would have made all the difference.

Possibly , but God knows how many times we hit the woodwork, not including "Trottas" effort, small margins , I thought we took a risk when we let him go, but he wanted game time and we couldn't give him that, we also got out of jail a few times in games, to be fair I think you could point to dozens of chances either way, ....yeah so close :(

Highly speculative... but I suppose it is summer, after all. It is unlikely he would have got into the starting XI and would only have made the bench after Keirnan and Moore returning. Would these goals (or goal) he conceivably would have scored had he been on the pitch been outweighed by the goals we would have conceded with him in defence? Who would he have replaced? Would he been playing up top as centre forward? Could we have sneaked him on as the twelfth man without the officials noticing?

LL wanted to play every week which was never going to happen and his salary went towards bringing in some of the loanees we saw.

I would agree that watching the beasts of Doncaster, Swindon and Yeovil that we lacked height and dominance in BOTH penalty areas and I hope that this will be rectified.

it is easy to rewrite history and we all loved Leon for his strength and enthusiasm but he did not fit in with Rosler's style given the fact that there was always IMO a mistake in him and he could not cope well with the ball at his feet.

Correct me if I am wrong but I do not remember him scoring or contributing to a Bees goal in his limited games last season, all I remember is a spectacular save by Lee at Borehamwood to prevent a LL own goal!!

So I would agree that a beast in defence would have really benefitted us in terms of both preventing and scoring goals last season but I just do not think that Leon was that player.

I just hope that we are able to find and bring in a tall dominating centre half who can score goals too and also with the skill to play a bit too.

Not an easy task IMO but an essential one.

Nonsense, you could also argue his salary went towards BWP's, without whose goals we might not have even made top 6.
