:( Watching Lille's match with Everton on ITV 4. The commentator mentioned he'd spoken to a couple of Lille fans before the Europa tie & apparently many Lille supporters felt Lille are so bad right now, that they're "as bad as Brentford!!"

Couldn't believe what I heard.

Isn't he the commentator who split from Natalie Sawyer? Might explain it a bit if he's bitter (he should be!).

That's him - Sam Matterface - but he was only repeating what he heard from Lille fans.

the chances of any Lille fans comparing themselves to Brentford must be very small, the chances of those fans happening to speak to a bloke who used to be married to a bees fans is incredibly remote. sad ****er could do with growing up

There's only one thing worse than being talked about, and that's not being talked about :D

He did redeem it by saying something along the lines of. "That is unfair. Warburton's team are holding their own in the championship."

Did not expect to hear Bees mentioned at all though.

It is an odd choice given our location vs. Liverpool. Really they should have said "Lille are playing more like Tranmere than Liverpool" - that makes more sense. :)

or maybe they thought that Rosler was still in charge and Lille are going all defensive once they go 1 up. :)

Lille's fans should show some support if they want things to change and be as good as Bristol City's.

It's like an Everton fan saying they are playing more like Chamois Niotais - mid table in the French second tier - than PSG. Bizarre. Utterly bizarre.

Not when you know the link Prataface has/had with Brentford.

Either he told them to say it (who cares what he thinks) or our name is getting out there internationally, as I can't imagine, we've been talked about much in France in the last 10 years or ever before.

Bizarre if true that Lille fans made that comment - surely they'd pick a team bottom of the league, so either Tranmere or QPR; can't see that our profile would make us an obvious comparator. If our opponents in the next home game are poor will we be chanting "are you St Etienne in disguise"?

It was about the only part of the match Clark Carlisle kept his mouth shut

Speechless.

Couldn't believe what he was hearing.

Makes a change from us not being able to believe what we are hearing when he is speaking I suppose.

My 2p worth is that Matterface has a particular axe to grind and thought he was being clever

Wouldnt you like to know
No one bothered about the French police once again disgracing themselves with English football fans?

A backward country we should always be on a war footing with.

Nothing to do with the fact that she dumped him, sleeps in a Brentford top and used to call out Sammys name in her sleep . lol

Wonder what he thinks of the Sammy Saunders song?

Very strange, Lille aren't known for fighting, far from it in fact

Some of the pictures I've seen, show the plain clothes police looking absolutely delighted at being given the opportunity to draw batons and crack some heads. :nono:
