Losing to Liverpool is probably expected but all three goals were avoidable. They won because of Brentford errors. We've got a good enough team but now we need the discipline and a bit of steel.

Totally agree. Put the soft goals with the 1st and 4th against Southampton.
Get a grip FFS. I said he played a suicide ball - he did. This is an Internet forum, not twitter, not Facebook, not Instagram.

Just no fun at all to watch that. Playing the big teams is only fun if you compete. I hope we can battle our way to enough points to stay up and then try in the summer to get back to being a team that can pass the ball through midfield.
Toney is getting stick now but the front players are feeding off scraps because we cannot get the ball to them except through hopeful punts or sometimes through pressing. And it just builds endless pressure on a defence that is weakened without Raya. It is not just against the big teams that this is happening.

Didn’t really expect to get much from the game, but Ajer wrestling and not watching the ball, Pinnock ducking under a header to clear the ball and the third was just the icing on the cake.
All three could’ve been avoided.
Good voice from all our fans in the ground, heard them loud and proud all game
Wednesday under the lights and Saturday back at home, we have to get something from one of these games to turn our form around.

Sure but we also rode our luck a bit, Alvaro saved us on a few occasions too, it could have been 4 or 5 in the end if not for some brilliant shot stopping.
However, I thought at 1-0 we could easily have taken a point and I do agree the goals we conceded were all very disappointing, the first 1 was especially gutting. The 3rd.... well less said about that the better.
I actually feel the same way as you brooks, not disappointed that we lost just disappointed at how we lost and the fact that we didn't necessarily need to lose.
I have a funny feeling we're going to beat Man Utd tho, it's all gonna come together again.

The end of a long tough week. Giving away poor goals - and the ball when we eventually have it - are becoming bad habits. Team looks like it needs a rest and a refresh.

We were never going to get anything out of this game. as I said previously, would have been a miracle, given current form and fitness. We defended quite well initially but once the first went in that was pretty much it. Defence second half not good enough, needs someone in there organising, particularly at corners, where we're all over the shop. Clearly Raya was doing that job.
We must also get better at keeping the ball but Norgaard aside our midfield just can't keep the ball under pressure. Need reinforcements! Another tough game in midweek, could be a difficult month ahead.

Tactical error from Frank and some silly defending meant it was an uphill battle second half, although frankly coming away with anything from Anfield would have been a momentous result even for an established Premier League club. A change of formation with the personnel we have at our disposal isn't going to change things. I mean, christ alive, people were calling for 4-3-3, I think today's substitution in bringing on Wissa and going 3 up front tells you exactly why that wouldn't work!
Fact is we don't have players that look to receive the ball, take players on and create space for others to exploit. Our first reaction is to pass the ball over the top and behind the defenders, rather than look to go deep and receive. That is probably partly down to confidence in some cases but you can tell by the players we're being linked to that management think the same.

Welcome to the PL in a nutshell only the top 6 compete agasint each other the rest fight it out for what's left. Example Southampton last 10yrs in PL achieved nothing apart from surviving.
Losing to Liverpool FC expected. Just think most will be frustrated like yourself with the manor of our display, 3 sloppy goals.
I'm not talking about competing for the title, just competing in individual games, as we did in the reverse fixture and against Chelsea. We had a little sniff at 1-0 when we were looking decent but mostly we weren't in the game.

You’re broadly correct but there are exceptions… Leicester have only been in the premier league for 5-6 years and have managed to win a league title and an FA Cup.
No disgrace to go to Liverpool and get beat, but the manner we conceded a couple of the goals was very disappointing to say the least. We are not playing a L1 or L2 team where we might yet away with errors, we are playing against some very good players week in week out. We certainly need to bring some players in before the end of the month. RWB, LWB(if Henry out out for a while), CB, AMF and Forward. highly unlikely we will get 5 in, but maybe 2 or 3.

I don't want to piss the bed, however, I think we have been pretty poor for a while. No flair or zip about our play.
We must find a way to provide Toney the ball in the box, because this current tactic is helping nobody.
Mbeumo is 10 times better when he cuts in from the right wing position and shoots.
Alvaro saves today were absolutely brilliant. Unfortunately, he is unable to marshal his defence or command his area which is obviously a major issue.
We have been absolutely fantastic up till now, although I believe its time for our strategy to change second part of the season.
I'm saying 4-3-3 which I genuinely believe will scare the life out of some of the teams in this league.

All 3 goals were just so avoidable. However, if Liverpool didn’t score from those opportunities, they would have scored other ways. They owned that ball and we’re first to everything. Fair play to them- they are a good side.
On a more positive note, I was pleased with our determination 1st half. However, the gulf between the sides was just too much. Oh well, on to Wednesday.

As others have said, losing at Anfield is not a shock but all three goals were poor give aways.
We had our moments going forward, without really testing Alisson.
The loss of Raya has been huge.
The lack of midfield creativity will hopefully be resolved before the end of this transfer window.
Strangely though, I have a good felling that we will send the mancs home with nil poi on Wednesday.

I think 433 would be suicide at the moment tbh, we don't have the players for it and the ones we do have are off form. Not the time to be taking a CB out in my opinion.

That's exactly how a lower league team would play. Defend for your lives, clear it long and hope for the best. I feel like we've completely abandoned our footballing principles recently. Never expected anything from the game, but disappointed with the way we played. One shot on target in the last minute. Contiuously giving the ball away. Etc...
Not sure why we're not going back to our 4-3-3 from last season, or at least giving it a try. We had that long unbeaten run and went to the top of the table. We then changed to accomodate the injuries, but never switched back. Toney has just 4 league goals from open play since early April (30 games), and we're asking players like Mbeumo and Canos to play out of position. We try and play out from the back, and when it goes to the full back there is no one ahead of them because the two forwards are in field. I just don't think it's working and it's erroding our reputation as a footballing team.
Maybe saving him for Weds? He’s currently our only real attacking threat as cov/body snatchers have stolen poor old Ivan’s mojo.

Worked in the Championship when we had BMW but when B+ W left it didn't quite click it, did it? We then went 3-5-2, adding a bit of steel to our underbelly and that was what got us promoted. You now think we should go back to 4-3-3 against Premier League oppo...that's asking for trouble, surely?

No the worst result in all fairness. In it for longer than I expected.
The frustration for me is that against City, Liverpool and Chelsea we defended resolutely for a lot of the game ( apart from the conceded goals, which were avoidable of course). So why is when we’ve played Beighton, Southampton, Burnley, Norwich, teams I can realistically expecting something from, we haven’t been nearly as tight.
Communication between Alvaro and defenders is shocking at times. I don’t think they have much trust in each other.
TF is a bees legend. Has My absolute support of course. But sometimes this dependence on keeping the shape can be irritating.

We have players coming back from injury getting into there stride again so it takes time. I’m frustrated though by the softness of the goals. At the beginning of the season that would of never happened. Today should have been a single goal defeat or a draw.
I am a big fan of Baptiste and taking him off I was not happy with. We lack that player to unlock defences to get the best out of our front two.
Hopefully fingers crossed next week we will get some movement on that

Reality check, a few years ago we lost to Yeovil for a place in the Championship, they are now mid table National League.

Didn't expect anything from this game so we go again on Wednesday. Time to get behind the boys and raise the roof at BCS and put the pressure on those BIG TIME EGO'S from Manchester. We all knew it was going to be a battle to stay in the Premiership and nothing comes easily along the way.

Playing 433 was working like a charm last season, top of the league and a 20+ unbeaten run. Toney scoring for fun. We didn't change to 3-5-2 until April and it was because Rico and Dasilva were out and it was hurting us. It did get us over the line, but we've now got 11 points from 14 games and are living off our good start. Think it could be time to try something different.

Against United I hope we see the Brentford side that really showed determination against Chelsea and West Ham. Nothing less will do. And United are not that good.

Not sure how to feel after that one. Objectively, losing away to Liverpool isn’t the end of the world. Losing 3-0 directly after the battering at Southampton makes it feel worse.
Getting something out of this week’s two home games will be the tonic though. Even if we get a bit of luck to make it happen.

It was precisely when we lost shape that we gifted them the two second half goals. Replacing Baptiste with like for like would have been a better option. Instead we went 3 up front and that allowed Liverpool to exploit the space that the previous low block was cutting out.

Never thought I’d say this about a game against a team that were European champions not so long ago but it was a hard one to take today ,sill errors costing us once again.I know it was Liverpool but just feel really disappointed after that one,felt like we were always in the game till they scored their 2nd.

Its strange but all the 3 goals were down to us. For all the play Liverpool had their goals were scrappy to say the least. We defended well but then we switch off at times and it seems every time we do this the ball goes in the net? Same with Southampton.
Don't want to pick out players but Ivan looked like he had trainers on, slipping all over the place and not holding the ball up, trying flicks etc. TF needs to address this and get him back to scoring goals. He defending was great but we need him up front more. Lets start with Man U.
