Found this on twitter from last year

Another one of Denmark’s great talents joined Leipzig not so long ago, Mads Bidstrup, perhaps one of Europe’s most promising U19 midfielders who was wanted by almost everybody before joining the Germans from Copenhagen.

Sounds v promising. Have given him a long contract so clearly have a lot of faith in him. Seems like another step up for B team standards? @TadB you were right after all!! :D:sorted:

Right? Not sure I was that Pedantic. I do agree with your post though it does appear to be a major step up in B Team standards, and of course the obvious faith in him as denoted by the very long contract. I would imagine he could be the most expensive B Team purchase so far. His pedigree looks very good let's hope that by Christmas he is training with the first team squad. I do wonder if we are about to see the B Team moving even closer to the main squad.

Makes more sense that we'd sell Yearwood if we need to create space for this guy to progress, as it sounds like he'll do it quickly!

The language in the announcement of a "pre-contract" agreement makes it sound like his contract was expiring at RBL, and so we'd be getting him on a free?

That’s a long contract for B team player. Clearly expected to graduate into the first team.

yes, does also seem to indicate that we're committed to the B team style of system (ie closer links to the first team, picking up 'underachievers' etc for the long haul..

interestingly, midfield is the one area where we're quite comfortable on numbers in the B team squad. Already have Oksanen, Hammar, Maghoma, Read and Carre. Wonder if this could mean a promotion for Oksanen or Hammar?

There is some surprise that Liepzig have let him leave as he was very much in demand (esp. in Germany) when he went there

The market may be quite unpredictable over the next year and a half or so. We may be making cheaper deals than we know we'd normally get and this could be one of them.

Just guesswork, but if there's a club to look for an edge here it will be us.

Josh Dasilva was signed into the B Team I believe, just a way of bedding young talent in before expecting them to step up
Nope! Back in the DS days they used to "farm out" the odd first team signing to the DS (Calvet, O'Shaughnessy), but that policy seems long since over. Then again, the signing of Mads Roerslev had a feeling of "it's only a matter of time" about it.

Wow! For a B team player!!
I really do believe that if the B Team is to work from hereon then this is what we will be paying in future. Mbuemo cost £5 million plus, and was the same age as this chap so taking that as a yardstick £900,000 is cheap, if we can get him up to standard. Remember you cannot make a silk purse out of a sows ear! I think that we may have been attempting to do that sometimes over the past few years. The current make up of the first team has raised to bar somewhat and the B Team players are obliged to raise their standard to a level not expected a few years ago, and perhaps when they first signed.

When he was 16 years old RB Leipzig spend more than €1.8M (reportedly with additional clauses up to €2.4M).

In 2018 The Guardian named him among 60 of the best young talents in world football. https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...ng-talents-in-world-football?CMP=share_btn_tw

The Guardian: "Bidstrup caught the eye at a very early age. He plays as a controlling midfielder, is a natural leader and is as good going forward as he is at defending. He has a superb attitude and is, even at this age, able to inspire his teammates. Denmark's Under-18s coach, Michael Pedersen, says: “A couple of years ago we played in a big youth tournament in France and all the clubs that attended the matches were watching him. After that everyone was calling him.” In January 2018 Bidstrup signed for RB Leipzig. FC Copenhagen did not want to sell but, according to the Danish club’s first-team coach, Stale Solbakken, the bid from the Bundesliga club was “extraordinarily” high."

Sounds like a Brentford player to me

I do miss the days we bought players out the army - George Torrance and Steve Butler?
Also league 1 journeymen bring a level of comfort.
Hope Mad Bishop makes it with us and fills the hole left by Tatty Turner.

It does seem that we offer rehab for Danish players suffering from homesickness... welcome to Little Denmark, close to Big London and LHR, Mads!

I honestly think our proximity to LHR is a major selling point when recruiting foreign players. 2hrs to Denmark and Sweden with a short taxi ride at this end.

Hopefully one day Mads will become a full Danish international. I wonder how the current Danish senior team would perform in our PL

I get the feeling it won't take long for him to progress to the first team ?

Plenty of time to develop until a really big offer come in for Nørgaard.
