Signs new 4 year deal and promoted to the first team squad

https://www.brentfordfc.com/news/2020/march/mads-roerslev-signs-new-contract/

Brentford’s Danish youth international defender Mads Roerslev has committed his long-term future to the Club. Mads, 20, has today, Friday 6 March, signed a new four-year contract. The deal includes an extra year that would keep him under contract at Brentford until 2025. After signing the deal Mads has been promoted from the Brentford B group to the First Team.

Well done Mads very well deserved on your few (as yet) appearances.

(As an aside, I really hope some of the B team can now push on.....if you're good enough, you're old enough.
.....and I would show them the performance of that 18 yr old Chelsea player v Liverpool in the cup the other night.......wow! and such a slight build as well.....unbelievable, shows what is possible, and something for our lads to aspire to!) COYB'B's

Exactly ! Can see Mads, Racic, Zamburek all being first choice starters next season and maybe one or two others currently skirting between b team and first team

Excellent news.

Hopfully this long with the other Mads,JZ,Racic etc not looking out of place in the 1st team will have two benefits

1) It will encourage other B teamers to up their game further as the reward is clear

2) It will encouarge those we seek to recruit that there is a path to regular football to be had.

Am I right in thinking that all these players were recruited by Robert Rowan? If so what a fantastic testament it is to him and how good is it that his legacy will be visible at Brentford FC for years to come

He'll be first choice right back when we're in the PL.

Great news, a good long contract as well, I have been very impressed with what I have seen of him, has stepped up to the plate with relative ease to earn a 1st team squad place, so far our B team model appears to be bringing some excellent young players along, this is a great advert to attract a few more through our doors when they can see a clear route to 1st team football with a progressive club like ours, long may it continue.

Good news as has been said by others.

Again it show what our good Scouting does and what the B Squad is all about . This again shows those who are B Squad players what you can achieve here

Great to have him onboard and for someone to slot straight in when Dalsgaard calls it a day..... :)

Wasnt quite clicking with him and Bryan going forward first half, however he seemed to settle into the game into the second half and looked pretty comfortable there in the end..

The understanding with Bryan isn’t quite there. Mads kept making overlapping runs, but was not receiving the ball and it left us a bit exposed at times, especially in the first half.

In the second half, he kept his shape much better and didn’t make any errors in possession.

At the end of the day if Henrik isn’t 100% fit, he is our second choice right back. So we may need him in these last three (or six) games, and in the future. There is room for improvement but every bit of experience gained is a worthwhile investment, especially if it is not at the expense of a result (like today).

It's a bit unfortunate for him I think that Mbuemo is a bit out of sorts and is probably trying a little too hard. Fair few times he didn't play the simple pass to put Roerslev in behind but then when he did Mads's quality wasn't what we normally expect from him. He's bound to be a little nervous though so hopefully that second half stood him in good stead..

Poor first half but to be fair Lawrence didnt have a sniff all game so he did well from that perspective. Hopefully Henrik back on Wednesday and a game off should keep him fresh for the final assault.

And Lawrence - one of Derby's better players - did not get much of a look in.

Interesting how times have moved on and we judge a right back predominantly on what he did going forward. Probably goes to show how high the expectations are now.
Thought his team mates didn’t show enough confidence in him when he got into the right positions.
As someone else said, the fact that Lawrence didn’t have much of an impact on the game is great credit to Mads but still no doubt we are better with Henrik in that position.

He looks very nervous at the moment, and seems to lack the confidence to take players on, something he seemed confident to do in the past, still think he will become a top player, or even a top,top player

Going to a really good player for us when Henrick hangs up his boots.

Magnitude of the games combined with no crowds I suspect . Thomas obviously believes in him as whilst Henrik must have some kind of knock or niggle he is still on the bench so would have played him if he didn’t have total faith in Roerslev . Would expect Henrik will play Wednesday and then Roerslev at weekend again . If it is the play offs Thomas wants Henrik 100 percent fit for them.

Considering he has come from practically nowhere his progress this season is astonishing.

He was fine defensively which is the main factor. Lost the ball going forward but give the young man a break. B team football to promotion football is huge progress.

Saw him play in the cup games and he stood out particularly going forward. he has bags of potential and thought he grew into the game yesterday. I don't think he is helped by Bryan being not at his best at the moment.

He showed a lot in doing overlapping runs for Mbeumo which were all ignored. I suspect TF will be highlighting this to both players ahead of Preston. A few times had Bryan passed wide to Roerslev to cross and himself moved into the box we might have got more goals.

To be fair, I think he is lacking some confidence and nervous, but the more he plays the better he’ll get. Who wouldn’t be nervous starting in the line-up as still the comparative "new boy" at this critical stage of the season.
He knows he can’t afford to make some costly slip-up.

He is having to get used to playing with other players, who’ve already developed a great understanding.

It reminds me of the situation with a certain Emiliano, who got so much undeserved flack on here. Quite a few of us could see that EM had talent, likewise with Roerslev. Great future potential. Played better v Derby than he did against Charlton.
Undoubtedly a future regular for us, once he gets a full run at it. Just like EM is showing now,

He's quick, he's got nice feet, he's learning in the hot-bed of the run in for Premier league football. M'Buemo did more defensive work this time versus previous where I felt Mads was left a bit exposed. He sometimes let's players get in behind him which he needs to watch, but getting better every game, as do all our starlets. Future's bright.

Given he's just turned 21 (last month), he's at a pretty good stage... However I would say he isn't quite there yet, but, there's no shame in that...it will come in time.

One year from now you can imagine him being good enough to be a first choice RB if Henrik were to go, and that's good enough for me. We could have this kid for a while.

I assume that is the thinking of the club and why they only gave Henrik a year extension.
