Why not just temporarily close the thread as the pointless histrionic guess work is beginning to grate.
I only update it to hear the definitive on/off decision- not poorly informed hypothesising.
Cheers.
I agree to a point, but if they shut down all threads with pointless guess work then it'd wouldn't leave very much to read... ;)

The thread title would be changed if it was confirmed either way, so just look out for that :sorted:

Man U clickbait is worth a hundred million clicks too so expected hourly updates from all news "outlets" reporting no new information at all.

If you thought Aston Villa "preparing a bid" for one of our players was bad... 🙈

The Man U circus of news might be quiet on this one for a few hours because UEFA messed up some balls in pots (aka "rigged it") so the Champions League draw gave them a harder draw. The details of this global conspiracy are not especially controversial or interesting but their fans will have forgotten they are even playing tomorrow.

Presumably there isn't going to be any announcement if the fixture is going ahead but what is the anticipated 'cut-off' for determining if it's going to be postponed? Midday tomorrow perhaps?

It's possible it could be later.
I know it was weather related, but Burnley v Tottenham was just an hour or so before wasn't it.
They have no problems cancelling late in the day.

BBC football carrying news of Rangnick discussing his options for match tomorrow night so he's thinking it's going ahead.

If this game doesn't go ahead all my work Sunday will have been in vain, I've made a bloody big sign, asking for Ronaldo 's shirt
I’m bringing a sign saying
‘Cristiano…
We all think you’re a w***er but my wife wants your shirt’

"Confirmed by @ManUtd that yesterday’s positive LFT Covid-19 cases among the first team staff + players now confirmed by PCR tests. Club has closed down first team operations at Carrington for 24 hours, to minimise risk of any further infection."
"The Club is in discussion with the Premier League whether it is safe for Tuesday’s fixture against Brentford to continue, both from a covid infection and player preparation perspective. Team and staff travel to London will be deferred pending the result of that discussion."

I am after anyone in the media who uses the word "cancelled" with a rusty nail on a plank of wood. League matches are not cancelled, they are postponed.

The PL have stated previously that games can only be postponed if training facilities are closed. Carrington now being closed = game off I reckon.

Manchester United can confirm that following PCR test confirmation of yesterday’s positive LFT Covid-19 cases among the first team staff and players, the decision has been taken to close down first team operations at the Carrington Training Complex for 24 hours, to minimise risk of any further infection.

Individuals who tested positive are isolating per Premier League protocols.

Given cancellation of training and disruption to the squad, and with the health of players and staff the priority, the Club is in discussion with the Premier League whether it is safe for Tuesday’s fixture against Brentford to continue, both from a Covid infection and player preparation perspective.

Team and staff travel to London will be deferred pending the result of that discussion.

Provides an easy route to a postponement then? If you decide to close your own training ground, which presumably takes minimal effort and no third party permission, you have yourself a postponement.

I think the problem is that most of the players will have been close contacts with those that tested positive but may not have been exposed within enough of a time period to return a positive test themselves. By the time tomorrow night comes around, they could be infectious, particularly with omicron loitering about. It's not ideal but I don't think it's as black and white as checking the number of players that tested positive 1 or 2 days prior to the match.

On the plus side if it is postponed.... we can have Pinnock, JDS and a match fit Toney back for the re-arranged game, whilst they will be busy worrying about Champions League knockouts by then. Given most PL postponements will be played in 19/20 April (GW 33), or week commencing 9/10 May (GW36) should even have Raya fit by then.

What a bunch of cry babies. Have you ever heard a professional sports team who have cried off facing not one but TWO different teams in the same day :D I wonder if there is anyone they are not scared to play against.

Training ground just shut surely they would of been travelling today and wouldn’t of done much at training ground?
