If anyone is travelling to Brentford from the South on Wednesday, be aware that the last train home leaves Kew at 2156. So, no chance basically.

Yes sorry didn't read your post correctly, there is a Salisbury train a bit later. But nothing on the the South Coast line.

Also the trains to / from Kew Bridge are only every 30 minutes - unless SWR decides to put some extra trains on at the last minute. They certainly don’t make it easy for us…

Horsham is okay, but involves a change at East Croydon.

The main problem is SWR have a new timetable from Monday and have withdrawn their entire fleet of 456 trains.

Cheers for the heads up.

Looks like there are reduced services on Thameslink/Southern too (due to Covid absences), so less easy to get home on the Brighton line.

Is there anyone on here connected with SWR who might be able to explain why they’re keeping the 455s? They were built in 1982 and should have been replaced by the 701s a year or so ago I thought?

For a non-trainspotter, that article seemed mental. A new train now won't be operational until later in thd year, so they've decided to withdraw an old train??

I travel from Dorking to Brentford.
17.16 from Dorking gets to Kew Bridge at 18.52.
21.54 or 22.24 back to Clapham and change for Epsom(21.54 & get Dorking train) and or Dorking (22.54 arrives 23. 59).
£8.50 return for me and junior with F&F railcard.
From my local Warnham station £27 return and I cannot get a train back that late so I have to go to Horsham station.
Parking easy for me at both.

Please reconsider this post. It smells of the type of conversation someone would have while travelling to the Cottage with a Victoria sponge

A pair of 455s photographed just now at Waterloo (probably platform 14, for Dorking and/or Guildford), pondering your post.

It will come down to considerations such as the cost of leasing. If they are shorter trains then what with less demand (covid) SWR may consider that fewer coaches are required for the remainder of this year.

I am a bit concerned that any promised late train back Salisbury way may not materialise.
I had this issue for Arsenal game. I got the train up from Yeovil then got a message saying my train home had been cancelled spent whole second half worrying about that than watching the game. In the end despite National rail and every other side saying it had been cancelled they ran it in the end. Me and my brother the only two on the joinery after Salisbury lol

Following Southern's lead. 4th consecutive week coming up with no direct services into Victoria. £4700 season ticket money well spent 😡

Renationalise the lot - without compensation. Sick of foreign government owned rail companies taking the piss and the profits to subsidise their domestic operations.
