Presumably the club still feels there is better value abroad, but wants to try them out first to see how well and how quickly they adapt to English football. It will be interesting to see who they sign for the first team squad.

Anyone leaving a Prem team is probably asking for stupid money and assurances about first team football etc. etc. etc.

Given that he went through the WBA Academy, he'll count as a native player, I believe. But there's obviously value in other European countries... including Scotland!

Yes indeed. Perhaps there will be a couple of signings from Leagues 1 or 2 who the club feels will be able to adapt quickly to the higher level. Their record so far has been pretty good.

Maybe but it might be difficult finding those kind of gems in their youth teams. Maybe youngsters in non-league playing first team football.

The DoF's have taken stick in the past, but certainly deserve praise for their work this Summer.

It's clear the work this Summer started 2-3 years ago in some cases and at least a year ago in others. This long-term targeting, scouting and tracking looks like it is really beginning to pay off. Many of these young players from other European leagues and particularly academies and youth teams are not in the statistics conventionally available, so our ability to spot talent before it appears on other clubs' radar is particularly impressive.

I think he's the best front man I've seen since the Development Squad/B team set-up started.

Do you think that there's a chance that he'll play for the first team this season, or is that too optimistic?
Must be a chance I should think seeing as we are lacking in that department.

I would be surprised if he didn't at least get a few games on the bench, similar to Shaibu at the end of last season.

What sort of player is he please?
Big, powerful player (for his age) who can hold the ball up well but what I think is impressive about him is that he knows where the goal is too! It's worth watching the B team highlights from Barnet where he scored twice. The goals there summed him up nicely.

Think him and Mads are supposed to be the next two cabs off the rank...both thought of as highly as Meps!

Must be a case for giving him a go off the bench at least, given our current striking issues. Or maybe they don't feel he is the finnish article yet.

If you're good enough, you're old enough. Expect to see him in the first team squad before end of season.
Agreed but might have to wait until he starts shaving though :D

In days of div 3 and 4 I'd agree but a huge leap from from Dev squad on training pitches in front of scouts and family to Championship.
Maybe he'd benefit from first team game time learning his trade elsewhere first rather than a few minutes in cameo roles for us.
Meps was seen as special and he didn't go on loan but that's rare.
Just hope both he and Sorenson are good as reports suggest.

2021 is quite a statement of belief, like the Mepham five-year deal. let's hope Marcus makes it :sorted:
