He's won it enough times, so I would like to see an European win it. For Rory to have any chance he will need to shoot 5/6 under today. Can't see that happening though.

....I guess Molinari is Europe's best hope....I just like big Phil...Tiger winning would be good too...but my hunch is one of the American 'young bucks' will win it....should make exciting viewing over next couple of days.

Why didn't the marshall who 'did' Tiger Woods off the ball not have appropriate golfing footwear on?

Given Woods was wearing spikes it was lucky his foot wasn't grounded given the size of the fella and that his sliding tackle was side-on. A player retiring thru on course injury, would have surely been a first for golf.

No it’s not, an English golfer Boxall?? broke his leg on the course and seem to recall Jason Day had an injury a few years ago

How did Boxall break his leg? Can't think a two foot put was the culprit.

Have heard him tell the story he was a couple of shots off the lead in the 1991?? Open, he hit a 1 iron and heard a cracking noise which was his leg breaking!!! Somewhat bizarre I agree

Best take up a less physically debilitating hobby in my twilight yrs then, I'm guessing I'm safe with bridge.

No go for golf, it’s great fun, totally frustrating, good exercise and a perfect reason to be out in the sunshine for a few hours followed by a wind down on the 19th.

One of the most iconic sporting events - would love it if Tiger won. It would be the greatest achievement in sporting history IMO.

Jack Nicklaus, Sir Steve Redgrave, Don Bradman, Muhammad Ali, Roger Federer, Sachin Tendulkar, Lionel Messi, Ronaldo, Martina Navratilova, Sugar Ray Leonard for starters and I could name another 20 who have a genuine claim to be in front of Tiger as the greatest sportsman of all time.

Look you expressed your opinion and it was wrong, not a crime.

Let me put it it there not a question he could have been he has already done and would have surpassed Jack already and as you rightly said he ****ed it up himself. To win a major after X amount of years after he ****ed it up and all down to him and his surgeries is a massive achievement if he wins a major. Lets see ....

Woods now in three way tie. This is great. Hope it's like this tomorrow at the same time, and not screwed up by the weather.

Jack Nicklaus is more successful than Tiger so he’s not the greatest golfer yet which means he’s not the greatest sports person.

You stay up as long as you like but please back up your opinions.

I think you should sleep. So what makes Nicklaus a better golfer than Woods. Be interested to hear your informed answer. Pls don't say the number of majors won.

It's all about results, and the skill and mindset required to achieve them.

I like facts and stats that confirm why Jack Nicklaus is currently a more successful golfer than Tiger.

I will sleep, I only suggested you should because I assumed you were over tired to even suggest that Tiger was the greatest sports person ever because he clearly isn’t.

You carry on but I won’t reply as your initial claim has been proved wrong

I gave you 10 for starters just to prove he wasn’t the best ever as you claimed.
Joint second maybe that sounds like you’re admitting you were wrong, so don’t understand expect by YOU

You said he was the best I gave you 10 better for starters and do you know what he’s probably in the top 20 but the point is my argumentative friend is he isn’t the greatest in anyone’s opinion except yours

This really could go any way tomorrow, especially if the weather gets involved. Most open tournament I can remember (pardon the golfing pun!).

There is a subtle difference between being the best player in any chosen sport and being the greatest “ sportsman” the latter requires the recipient to be a more rounded individual which I don’t think applies to Tiger

Jack Nicklaus once said Tiger had the potential to win more majors than he and Palmer managed in total. For various reasons personal life and injuries that did not transpire so factually, based purely on results Tiger is not the greatest ever golfer. That therefore has to preclude him from the greatest sportsman accolade

He has, without doubt, considerable skill and single mindedness and he could have ended up the greatest ever golfer however at present he is one of many that, on their day, can rip a course to bits but the greatest Sportsman; not in my opinion

There's got to be at least ten players still in this, and possibly more if the weather turns nasty. Very exciting. Let's hope it remains that way and that nobody runs away with it.... unless that is Poulter!!

....I've speculated this morning on what I consider a very generous offer of 40/1(e/w) on the little South African....who has won on the East coast of Scotland when the winds blowing.

The weather will get worse for the leaders, so someone from the field could win it whilst in the clubhouse.

I AM a location
Peter Alliss just does my nut in chuntering away, guessing on shots, and subtly slagging off Woods at every opportunity
