Remove Noorgaard and our midfield are either 9 out of 10 or 5 out of 10. Need to be more consistent; not just Jensen but Josh and Marcondes as well. One game they are scintillating, the next they are non descript.

Don’t think Jensen was terrible today - there was other reasons for the defeat. But we don’t have anyone nailing down that midfield position alongside Dasilva and Norgaard yet and it makes for an unsettled side.

I would be keen to see us change to a 4-2-3-1 and perhaps see SB play in the 10 role of he is to stay.

Marcondes was a late replacement on thursday for Goode, with fosu dropping back to rb. I wonder if we'd intended to play either Said or Ghoddos as a 10 v fulham? Seemed to do for Marcondes today anyway! Jensen doesn't look fully fit yet. In fact most of our players look well short. Short holiday and pre-season a problem?

I think it’s more a mental thing. They were one game from the PL (twice) and then they were 46 games. They look like they want to skip straight to the run-in.

He's not a CDM replacement so was always going to struggle today. But wherever he plays he's 100% lightweight.

Thinking back to the games post lockdown, he played 1 nice pass for Ollie vs Swansea in the 2nd leg.....but apart from that?? Hes been poor for a long time now.

Indeed - watch him for the third goal. Wtf is he doing?

If he gets it together, we're laughing, he'll be a cracker. But it'd be nice to see (more) signs of that.

Vital couple of weeks for him here - hopefully he'll be much more ready when we get back to action.

Losing patience now with Mathias. When he's on it and fancies it he's superb. But too often weak in the tackle and loses possession to easily and frequently.
he’s a show pony, has absolutely no interest in getting stuck in, weak as fcuk

Replaces Norgaard in Denmark squad
He may replace Nørgaard in the squad numbers but he's not going to replace his role! Christian replaced Højbjerg last time out and he'll revert this time.

Is he playing as an attacking midfielder?
He's neither an attacking midfielder or a defensive midfielder. Baptiste would start for me over him and Marcondes. I would move Josh further forward.
too weak and never imposes himself on a game unless we are playing very inferior opposition........another one who is not at the level we want to be at
We need a lot better in this area, if we sell Benrahma I hope we make this a priority.

Mate I was asking about his role for Denmark tonight. Not about his performances for us!

Looked to play mostly in front of the back 4 in the first half, so fairly defensive. Recycled the ball well, got back well a couple of times, nothing fancy. I think he appeared in the six yard box for a corner too at one point, which must have been a novel experience for him.

Please give it a rest, I think we're well aware of your feedback on this issue. Jensen was signed for good money 15 months ago, a quality young English player was signed for good money in January, and we've just brought in a German lad who looks like he could be decent. I really don't think you could ask for more - they're trying.

You might like to see the report of his work playing for Denmark tonight.
You were one of the experts telling us all that “ Watkins is no centre forward” and now Jensen is no midfielder ... on both counts you are proven wrong.
Just accept that your tactical expertise is very limited and stop being so dogmatic in your viewpoints..perhaps even consider that the management of Brentford FC and the Danish National team know a bit more than you?

What?

you will need to explain that rather peculiar post.
You mean to say, " could you please explain what you mean", but you don't put it that politely.
As for "H", false conclusion jumper and rude.
PJ, exhibiting disenchantment and injury problems, Slowing. Not much of a captain, these days. Bad tattoos.
EM; can show occasional flashes of skill and has a good game, but only about 20% of the time. Bad hair.
MJ, intelligent, exhibits some skill , but powderpuff and can get needly when losing. When played with above in midfield, against a tough side, they slowly disappear.
HD, probably the toughest guy amongst these four, but becoming slower and clumsy as he ages.

Really can't compare the cut and thrust of a championship encounter with an early season, international run out. Even Hal Robson-Kanu looked like Pele playing v. Belgium in 2016.

ie, didn't have a great game on Sunday, along with everyone else..

Also, PJ isn't Danish... ;)

Can anyone report on how well I lads did tonight playing for Denmark? A fifth of the outfield team for an international side that England was unable to beat recently is very impressive and could potentially have been almost one-third of their side from Brentford.

Interesting to see, from the Danish International live text, the number of Assisted by Mathias Jensen, particularly after Eriksen went off. I guess that's the one good game, so we've got nine 'very average' ones to look forward to.

The BBC hardly mentions him, no assists, a foul and a shot that didn't go in.

The BBC rarely gives any detail on their text service. But even so it does mention a shot on goal which was on target, 4 assists to other players resulting in them getting shots on target, and he played the full 90 minutes. This would suggest that he played to the satisfaction of the Danish team manager. Us “supporters” in certain cases obviously don’t think he is at the level we expect at Brentford. Interestingly WBA supporters are saying the same about Romaine Sawyers. Funny how some of the technically skilful players are given less credit than the “bruisers” who appear in the stats through the number of fouls they give away

That Watkins comment may keep him quiet for a while, spot on 😂

MJ is clearly a player with a lot of skill and technical ability. Faroe Islands not the biggest test. It will be interesting to see if/how he is used in the next match for Denmark.

I imagine that, being given the full game, he will be 'rested' for the next one, as a number of the first-choice regulars were substituted during that match. Their coaches will have seen that he can play a full game and work out if he can fit with their tactics. As mentioned earlier, he got many more mentions after Erikson went off and I guess they are looking at 'life without Erikson' for the future.

Not a high bar. Pele was 75 in 2016 and Belgium were a good side. I can quite believe that Hal Robson-Kanu was no better than the great man in such a diminished state.

People often forget it's a team game, you need a mixture of the stronger ball winning players and those with the creativity and intelligence to play an expansive passing game, the beautiful game if you like. It's very rare that you get both attributes in the one player. Norgaard has the ability to do both but we've not had many like him over the years. Skilful players tend to get it in the neck when things go wrong against the more physical sides but you rarely see anyone saying 'so and so didn't beat any players, create space or pick out any key passes' when we're struggling to break down sides with 10 men behind the ball. Just as long as they got their foot in or won a few headers. That's often deemed enough.. The game on Sunday is a classic example, we had a complete breakdown in defensive play across the whole side but it's the creative players who are crucified..

It’s clearly evident that a certain group of posters have decided that Jensen and Marcondes are no good and will take any opportunity to have a go at them. Sunday provided a perfect opportunity but the reality was that for some reason across the team there was a collective brain freeze.
