If we had no squad goalkeeper available, maybe we would have grounds. But we do. I don't agree it's suicide. He may surprise a lot of us! And the team we can put out is capable of restricting the amount of chances Southampton have on our goal...

Assume one of those. Unless we have an outfield player that is competent between the sticks. Back in the day before g/k subs, Glenn Hoddle was Spurs' nominated payer to take over and used to do fairly frequent keeper training!

I have every confidence in the lad. Yes it's a hugely undesirable situation but I remember some young Polish lad we had called Szczęsny who didn't do so badly. Different circumstances and different level I know but the bravery of youth might just see him through with a little help from those in front of him. If he does play I reckon his team mates will all raise their game, the one thing you can't question in this squad is the unity and sense of purpose and that will help young Cox enormously.

I think and god knows if im right as it changes all the time.

If you are double vaccinated you dont have to self isolate (that bits correct). But you have to take a daily lateral flow now. Although there arent enough lateral flows to go round.

Bit of both really, would’ve been very nervous but the prospect of starting a Premier League game in goal at that age must’ve been very exciting as well. Hopefully he gets a chance vs Port Vale.

He'll be waiting a long time for Port Vale to get promoted to the PL I reckon.

It’s worked out quite nicely really; whilst not having actually had the pressure of being thrust in net for a Premier League game, he’s had articles about him in the national newspapers and The Athletic, written about as an 18 year old goalkeeper we were prepared to play in the PL.

Actually being available would depend on being asymptomatic or actually having symptoms so a negative test (or maybe 2 consecutive being cautious) allowing him to return to training some days before playing.
