Depends when he got his positive test? If it was last Monday as suggested earlier in this thread then he's got to isolate until the 23rd...He should be clear by now I would have thought.

If he does play at Port Vale he will not be able to play for anyone else this season. I think that is how it worksHe could play at Port Vale then?
Last season Dervisoglu was able to play for 3 teams because the rules were adjusted in light of the pandemic. I'm not sure if that's still the case this season? Plus Norway's season runs from March to November, which means the usual rules don't always apply. If he does play at Port Vale he will not be able to play for anyone else this season. Agreed, we need to see what this kid is really made of.I'd actually like him to play, f*** it....
Agree completely.Why? He's a professional footballer.
Genuinely interested to know why you think he would be relieved to miss a chance to show what he's all about
That is why I stuck think at the end of the post. You could well be right.Last season Dervisoglu was able to play for 3 teams because the rules were adjusted in light of the pandemic. I'm not sure if that's still the case this season? Plus Norway's season runs from March to November, which means the usual rules don't always apply.
I guess the new "7 day isolation" rule changes things now...........Article from the Athletic says Cox was told on the Monday he was starting, which would suggest Alvaro likely tested positive that morning, which would mean he’d still be isolating.
It will depend if he's unvaccinated and identified as a contact of someone with Covid-19, when it's still 10 days. (As I read it, nothing yet on the *.gov site.)I guess the new "7 day isolation" rule changes things now...........
I think the second part is only relevant if you haven’t contracted the virus yourself? It will depend if he's unvaccinated and identified as a contact of someone with Covid-19, when it's still 10 days. (As I read it, nothing yet on the *.gov site.)
As I wrote, I've not seen the actual text and there's usually a significant difference in the detail between the headline-grabber and the actuality.I think the second part is only relevant if you haven’t contracted the virus yourself?
18 year olds don't read forums. Can we please close this thread - if Matthews reads it, it'll only give him more nerves. Leave the kid alone to play (or not).
I bow to your superior knowledge. After all. you're much, much nearer that age group than me.18 year olds don't read forums.
His great-grandad read it out to him over a whatsapp call.18 year olds don't read forums.
Looks like his sister plays for Chelsea Women’s youth side, also as a goalkeeper, and has recently won the FA Youth Cup:
or BalcombeNow officially a first team squad player. Congrats!
PG says he will stay with us next season, so no loan out.
With Lössl and Alvaro leaving, it sounds like another GK will come in to compete with him for a spot on the bench.
Yeh it really does stand out. V clear why we picked him up....He's class. His distribution is already better than most prem keepers.
The only thing is that it would be good to get him some first-team action so that we can have him ready to step in when Raya is sold for squillions down the line.Back up this season?
Maybe but I would expect us to sign another keeper who would be more experienced and maybe closer to Raya in terms of competing for the number one spot. Cox seems to have huge potential but I doubt he is PL ready just yet.Back up this season?
Not yet, But he's looking very good for our future and he's got time on his hands, Perhaps use him for Caraboa cup games, I think we will still need a more experienced/senior keeper for the PL, The club will know what's bestBack up this season?

Excellent news or 'more good news' as a certain poster might sayPulled off some great saves today. The one in the last minute of normal time was astonishing.
Hes far too good for National League.Would like to see him out on loan next season, maybe to a division two club or National League Club where he will get game time.
Also there’s little point in a loan to a club that’ll want him just to boot the ball up the pitch and have kittens if he tries to control the ball and pick a pass. But we did prove a decent team in L2 for Szczesny to develop at.Hes far too good for National League.
Should be looking at top half League One minimum for him, if not our second choice.
