Hi all. A less frequent poster here than I used to be.

Apologies in advance as I suspect this has been discussed earlier in the season but I've lost the tin hat so helpful replies would be appreciated...

I fall into the long-standing supporter group- - first game in 1977 - and then introduced my son to the delights of GP in 2012 when he was old enough. In other words, an awful lot of lows and more recently some great hights, a lot of money and many motorway miles over the years.

But....I am not a season ticket holder for several reasons. So I decided to email the ticet office to ask whether a long purchase history and a membersjip this season would gaurantee us any PL games this season and they simply sent me a pre-written reply, with various links which didn't answer any of my questions.

So I decided I would get more sense on the GPG. With 1200 TAPS and a membership, is that realistically going to get me anywhere with purchasing tickets this season, home or away? And as I have to purchase a second memberhsip for my son, I assume this is no gaurantee of tickets for him either, so what's the incentive of spending another £50?

I don't expect to be able to attend the bigger games, but clearly would like to experience the new stadium once or twice and get to a few away days this season if possible. Tv isi great but we are missing the live football.

Thanks for any help.

1200 TAPs and a membership will get you to a lot of games if you are keen enough.

I have a membership for my son who is 8 months old, he has something like 30 TAPs and was able to get a Chelsea ticket with it.

For home games you will be fine but might need to be quick on the draw for some matches

For away games you will be fine except for London games, perhaps.

I’m a long standing fan too (1989) but not a regular game goer over the years (for various reasons), at the start of the season I was 700 and something TAPs, I’ve not had a problem buying a ticket for any game that I can make (apart from West Ham, so far) and I’m now in 939 TAPs. I’ve said in other threads, so far no problems at my level.

A bit confused here......
Presume this was in the "fastest finger", no TAPs required, free for all, and was a single ticket? How does that work for an 8 month old?

I at the start of the season had less TAPs than you. It was under 900 (always had others get me tickets). But I have managed to secured tickets so far to all the home games and got tickets for Villa and Wolves away (quite easily). I had no chance with Palace or West Ham (but got tickets for West Ham in the home end). You will be fine seeing many games.

You'll be in the top tranche for the remaining Cat A home games, and get a priority window. TAPs don't make a difference in the Cat B games they are just fastest finger first. Decent chance for aways that eventually trickle down to the members, but wouldn't bank on too many

Still finding it extremely bizarre that a Chelsea fan could buy Membership prior to the Chelsea game "fastest finger" no TAPs free for all, mentioned above, and have the same chance of a ticket as a Bees fan with just under 850 TAPs.......

Yeah, I can understand why they'd do it, but it runs the risk of alienating Bees fans, and ending up with a Membership more skewed towards away fans.
Also makes it more difficult to put measures in place to stop it happening more and more in the future........
I fully expect a fair amount of Chelsea in home areas (and Liverpool tomorrow), and will be pissed off as I've been unsuccessful in getting a ticket for either game, even though my son has a decent amount of TAPs on his Membership.......

He has a “Babees” membership, cost a fiver.

When tickets go on sale to all members he is eligible.

Yeah, get that, but I'm guessing he won't be "sitting" on his own in a lone seat??!! 😁

Once tickets go on sales to “all members” that includes all the different membership types including Babees so my son has access to tickets at that stage.

But you can then buy tickets in any available category, including adult.

Hopefully away fans have not discovered this as it could be used as a loophole.

With 2.350 Taps and a season ticket, I've just managed to get my first away ticket, to Burnley. By the way, how long does it take to receive the Taps on an away ticket purchase? I've bought 3 memberships for my family and my son has 950 Taps and we've registered for some of the away games but none of them has been emailed as far as I know to invite them to apply for a ticket as yet. I've also repeatedly emailed the club to see if I can get premium seats or some hospitality for my son in Feb for his 40th and have had no reply.

With 1200 you can get to most homes and all but the most popular aways as long as you log on quickly.

They're normally added on a few days after the game.

Thanks all for the quick replies. Encouraging news. I think I'd been put off by the TAPS required for Chelsea, Liverpool etc. I'll try and make sure I;m in the right place at the right time. All those lucky enough to be going tomorrow evening, enjoy!

Not sure why would you be put off by the TAPS require for Liverpool or Chelsea? You have more TAPS than me and I have successfully got tickets for both games.

It's outrageous that a Liverpool fan can register a baby and get a 50% chance of getting a ticket in the home end!
I think all these loopholes can be shut if they just make these big games available to those with, say, 10+ TAPs only.

1200 is at the top end of the 2nd member tranche of Cat A games which I've found is still a non-stressful buying experience.

It's a bit weird that at this level of TAPs you can virtually guarantee a ticket for say Man Utd, but be in a scramble for Burnley at home, though it's still to be seen whether the rush for Cat B tickets will continue at Brighton levels.

If so, I'd say the system should be tweaked but I'm very happy with what this level of TAPs has allowed me to watch.

Unfortunately it's too late now, as the process has been "agreed"/set for this season...... which in turn will make it even more difficult to avoid the same thing happening next season, as away fans will now have TAPs on their accounts too......
Unless the level is set at 50+ etc, etc.......

Many loopholes need closing, like upgrading kids season tickets to adults, these should be going on the exchange for members not to season ticket holders mates.
Disagree with this, My daughter and I are in a group of 10 ST holders and she is unlikely to make 1 or 2 evening games. As a group we would prefer to give a mate an opportunity to sit with us. However I do think that there should be a limit on how many times an upgrade can be done in a season

Why is your 8 month old son taking up a seat that could go to someone that might appreciate it?

Just upgrade the ST to an adult. No need for upgrading every match then. Cheaper too. If this happens, and we’re still in the EPL, then I’ll be going down this route. So mates can still go, sons or daughters can still go. Friends of friends can still go.. 🤷

Because the club have put a set of criteria in place that allows it.....

That doesn't excuse BFC1997's behaviour, IMHO.

Eh?

I bought an ST for a grandson who was 2 months old at the time. How bad am I?! 🤷

I'm sure his son will appreciate his father's efforts in years to come, when he's top of the TAPS charts and front of the queue for a European Super League ticket against fellow European heavyweight Sheriff Tiraspol.

The club have given people the opportunity to do this, give the guy a break. Look at Anfield where families have had ST'S for generations born out of things like this. It secures the future of the club and the fanbase.

As long as said mate is eligible for a ticket as a member with the relevant taps then fine, else it should go on the exchange.

Is it possible to upgrade a pensioner's concession ST seat to an adult ticket for the occasional match? I live in W Yorkshire and can't get to many games. My son-in-law, an AC Milan supporter, has moved to Chiswick and now also supports the Bees. He is a club member but on only 50 Taps and otherwise, won't get to see any games.

You can, but he should also be able to get to most games, I know of a lapsed supporter with zero taps and he has been able to get a ticket for every game so far so if he wants to build his TAPs then he would be better off getting his own.

Ask Brentford fans unable to get a ticket what they think of this. Seems crazy that this is permitted.

Is that actually happening, are Bees fans missing out on games? You can’t be that much of a fan of you’re get trumped on loyalty by an 8 month old. Although the system is wrong, like everything to do with ticketing at BFC.

It’s not my job to allocate tickets. When he is eligible for a ticket with his membership is up to the club.

Ultimately because he is too young, at the moment when his membership is used to purchase a ticket this is passed onto another bees fan who (for any circumstance) was unable to get their own ticket.

If I leave someone else to buy that ticket in the free-for-all then it could quite easily be an away fan that gets it, couldn’t it? Whereas at least I know I’ll only ever bring along another Brentford fan. So I don’t feel I’m doing anything wrong.

Who do you know that has missed a game?

Tickets are on sale to members, then on the exchange and some of these are going to people with few taps, no Taps or away fans even.

The Club actively promoted sales of Child STs as “extras” within a group. One, it ticks their sales boxes and two, people like me took the gamble to buy one in the hope we’d get to the EPL. Therefore, my son, my family or a bees friend could come and sit in the same stand as me and my daughter and boyfriend.

What do you think of Arsenal fans paying out £280 for a young person ST and watching Brentford? Maybe we shouldn’t sell to non true bees too…….?
