“My representatives and I thanked Brentford for the offer, but we left the talks a long time ago”

“With all due respect I won’t be crossing over”

Another one bites the dust

Sounds like this was dead after the Jan transfer window and has never in reality been revisited

i mean i hate it and it could be a mistake but atleast theres method and reason behind his decision that isnt purely financial like alot of players. Cant hold it against him holding out for champions league football. Maybe further down the line if we continue to progress our paths could cross 🤞

Crikey this really is a tough market!
Extremely tough. Worrying thing as well is our other targets that have been rumoured so far in this position is Johnson and Lewis Potter. Johnson will stay if Forest go up, and if not there’ll be loads of competition, and with Lewis Potter we’re already competing with West Ham…

Nevermind. Would rather potential targets are removed from the shopping list now, than have the rug pulled from beneath us later in the summer. Long window to come.
Quite agree, but sounds like he made it clear to PG in January, or at least ages ago. so no time lost here. Just us being led on a wild goose chase by some click bait site.
I told myself that in future I was not going to waste hours this summer reading rubbish in the hope that I would pick up some exciting news. Some hopes of that as I have already started to do just that!

I think the general rule is that, once you see a player linked to us, it means he's a 'typical Brentford target' but that his agent is very actively trying to tout him around all over, so linking to Brentford (and Newcastle more recently), plus one of the Bundesliga clubs, is a way of going viral on the clickbait sites.

It probably also means that we're not interested or have lost interest after an initial inquiry.

Everyone should get used to this. We are swimming with the biggest fish in the world now. I believe we still need to pull out the unfancied/unknown players as anyone who is recognised will be caught by other clubs. Very surprised if Johnson comes now.

Despite the money Toughest window ever. But got to trust Phil Giles and MB - best in the business IMO

Spot on. Which is why we keep this squad together and add quality where we can. It will be a battle to sign the types of players we want and can afford. Leverkusen are a huge club and offer CL football.

I think it's going to be impossible to sign the best players in poorer leagues any more as we will always be outbid. Maybe it's more likely maybe that we would target under performing or out of favour players in the best leagues.

PG and Co Best in the game, but they have to be. Miller pool, and other clubs trying to muscle in. It's probably why we keep returning to Scandinavian players, as we offer something more to them. It may mean we put money into keeping players. I think it's going to be increasingly tough until we can offer Europe. Or we buy players that are a way off 1st team to develop.

There's a lot of panic on here just because we missed out on one player.

Sure, it's not easy to sign players at any level, but the PG and MB haven't let us down yet. I will be inclined to judge our success when the window closes in August.

Made a couple of good forward runs with pace and found a couple of good positions without getting the passes. Looks a good prospect.
