Was leading scorer in the 2nd tier with 28 goals for Leeds as recently as 2014 and has 13 international caps (ok, for Scotland).

So why is he still slumming it at Aldershot at the age of 34? Obsessed with playing football, or in need of the money?
I hope its the obsessed with playing football.
Because of the vast amount of money in the Premier league since the late 90s, rarely do you see a player end their career lower down anymore other than loyalty and relegation.

Heard many stories of players saying if they can't do it anymore at the top they'll retire. Well, they've the money now not to have to worry.
Shearer retired at 35 whilst at Newcastle. After having a patchy end of career. But even a year or 2 in what is league 1 or 2 with someone like Hartlepool, Carlisle etc local to him basically, would have done well and attracted a nice crowd for a short time at those clubs.
Beckham played for free at PSG. Why couldn't he play for free for a smaller club in England? Didn't he say he supported Leyton Orient? Or did I imagine that?
Just two examples who would rather quit than play below the top standards.

I don't know how reliable this figure is, but it is widely reported that (an astonishing) "40% of pro footballers go bankrupt within five years of leaving the game."
Why do so many footballers end up broke? FourFourTwo investigates...
Having read article but badly advised normally by agents and people around them. The money they earn if invested properly they shouldn't be going bankrupt. Lavish lifestyles for short space of time before reality kicks in tragic really.

Play Offs starting today, with Notts County v Chesterfield.
Couple of ex Bees on show.
Jake Reeves for County, and Manny Oyekeke for Chesterfield.
After a slow start the game has burst into life with a goal each within a couple of minutes.
Fantastic free kick for The Spirites from Rowe, although I think the keeper could gave done better, was cancelled out by Wooten, which led to a bit of Handbags, started by Oyeleke.
Chesterfield back in front just before half time.
A few meaty challenges have gone in, helped by a boisterous home crowd.

Cracking game at Meadow Lane but lack of sub keeper for spireites a disaster and Tyson should have done better when he came on

I can normally find one reason or another to dislike a club in a fixture.
I know the personnel behind the scenes have changed since then, but still can't cheer for Torquay after the way they behaved in the Gary Bissett affair.

That's Come on You Monkey Hangers, or Hartlepool for those that don't know.

I was there too - 29 years ago :( !

I remember the challenge - we were all behind the goal and it was a cleared, long ball that the two went for. From my angle it looked 50/50 and I was surprised that Uzzell stayed down. It was only afterwards that we found out that he’d been knocked unconscious and had suffered a broken eye socket, cheekbone and nose. It was the end of his career, he never played again, and his next job was as a postman. He now paints small boats at Plymouth docks I think.

Was at the game, pools got battered second half and the gulls keeper scored in the fourth minute of added on time. After a goalless extra time it went to penalties, first four were missed but somehow pools are out of that godforsaken league and back in League 2. Buzzing!!!!

Dover on the road to recovery.

Only on -11 points now.

Good to see Aldershit still on 0 after five games.

Even funnier if they go down and end up in Conference North because of it!

Grimsby have sold 700 tickets for their game at Wealdstone tonight!
It has kinda passed me by, but it seems there's a real feelgood factor at Grimsby under their new owners eg:

"Town are looking at investment into Blundell Park, starting with the Osmond Stand of the ground.
With supporters consistently reaching a 6,000 gate at DN35, the owners are interested in a strategy to extend the capacity.
Stockwood stressed that this was not an immediate priority but admitted if the upwards trend continues, there could be some movement."

Grimsby Town owner offers update on new training ground location

They also seem to be making progress on the new training ground.

Will Dover get to 0 points by the end of the season?

Just over 1/3 of the way through the season and they have just three draws to their name to claw back to -9.

It would be nice if King's Lynn could pick up a couple of wins so that Aldershot, who are already in the bottom three would be joined by Southend, who lost again last night.

2056 at Maidenhead today. 2-0 win against Weymouth. Two of the smaller clubs in the division. Alan Devonshire still in charge at Maidenhead. My first time there, another one ticked off.

Another sell out crowd at Blundell Park for today's win againt table toppers Stockport County. The 7,800k loyal following were happy with the performance .... Things are definitely looking up for the Mariners...

Should be 2 auto promotions and one play off.
With 3 going down into it.
Too much dead wood in the nether regions of League 2.
I agree.
National league is not what it used to be when I was younger, with lots of semi pro teams who had grounds to match.
Don't get me wrong, there are still some grounds that "could" look out of place in the league system but if they finish high enough to go up, let them.
May make the bottom of League 2 a bit more of a battle.
