A bit disappointing to have another betting company sponsor. But as the South African leader perhaps just a sign of our new international profile.

Yes a gambling company sponsor is a bit disappointing but I think we have to go where the money is, regardless of underlying principles.

Now this is announced, perhaps the kit will soon appear and maybe some new players wearing it.

Agree - disappointing to go back to a gambling company. Hopefully we've done our due diligence, unlike Norwich..

This is a continuation of an existing relationship. No?

This is their main logo. They do of course have colour variants.

So…..now, finally, they’ve decided who’ll be on the front of our new shirts, we should expect an announcement on what the new shirts will actually look like today :)

Plus they've said this:
Hollywoodbets has signed a new two-year deal which will see a bespoke Hollywoodbets logo feature on the front of Brentford’s First and B Team match kits, as well as all adult replica shirts for the new season.

They were on the back of our shirts last year, I thought?
So not a new sponsor as such, they have just upped the "anti"

They (like me!) probably pleased to be out of S Africa at the moment what with covid, very few jabs and looting.

Hollywoodbets International UK Limited – Clinch's House, Lord Street, Douglas, Isle of Man, IM99 1RZ. A bit of a mongrel : SA owned, Americanesque name , Isle of Man for tax purposes and a British target market !

DHL and KLM, 1980s sponsors, were also international.

Our owner is, of course, a betting entrepreneur.

Don't remember this uproar last season when they were on the back of the shirts to be honest

A TWO year deal... Hopefully we won't be changing our kits next season and can get some proper wear out of them

The Twitterati all seem disgusted we have gone with a betting company as principal sponsor but everyone seems very happy to have MB as an owner........

I have no problem with the sponsor personally and have a man crush on MB which is wrong for a man of my age!!!

Yes, I’ve read the article now. Hadn’t really registered they were on back of our shirt, which I guess shows the relative value of paying to be on the front. Obviously given how MB made his money and the club I’m not too judgemental about this, just would have preferred someone else.

I don't see any uproar* here, just mild disapproval and in an ideal world a preference for a sponsor in another industry outside of gambling.

*a public expression of protest or outrage.

Wonder if the rework of the logo has been part of the kit launch delay? Perhaps their jazzy font didn't fit with our brand/British market? Just a thought.

I’m personally not precious about it being a gambling company- I dare say there’ll come a day soon when that isn’t permitted but until then, no issues with with me.

Hollywoodbets’ logo though

Let's hope we put on some Hollywood performances... 🥁 boom, tish!

(and I don't mean the usual wooden performances from ageing 'names' that seem to be the norm in US TV shows nowadays)

Was based more on the reaction on twitter than here.

In Australian Rules Football to "do a Hollywood" refers to someone rolling around theatrically appearing to be injured in order to gain some advantage.

I understand the unease but given how our owner makes his money we are surely not in a position to take a stand on this issue.

Jesus....anyone who mentions 'sponsor' in that are being hit by bot replies that have nothing to do with what they wrote. Not the most professional...

And yeah, I'm not happy with a bet sponsor again. And yes, I am happy to have Matthew as an owner. Call it contradictory, but I don't like advertising betting on our shirts and it will prevent me buying one.

You are, but beer sponsorship isn't allowed on shirts 😅 And IMO neither should betting. It's not against any rules (yet), but it's still not the best industry to have representing you to the world.

Amd in Germany, Bayern M are known as "FC Hollywood" by fans of other teams.

It's not a compliment.

Oh well, needs must.

We need to be careful now we are a team with an international profile.
Nothing like as bad as attempting to market Nova or Pajero cars in Spanish speaking countries or Foden trucks in the Portuguese speaking world.

Extremely disappointing. I won’t be buying a replica shirt off the back of that.

Seeing as MB has funded our club with a massive amount of money on the back of his Odds/Gambling/Betting Company I hardly think we are in a position to critsize his choice of sponsor, even if some don't personally approve of the choice I'm sure the club has got the best deal financially, and that's all part of the Premier League set up, At least it's only a 2 year deal that can be re thought out at the end of it, Sport nowadays is all about betting, unfortunately hate, like, not bothered, we have to learn to live with it.

Agreed. Haven't purchased one for a long time but was going to get it with the Prem badge on sleeves as a little memento and could wear it at 5-a-side/gym. Just looks a bit rubbish. Shame

As unpalatable as it maybe for some, without money generated with the 'gambling industry' at it's route we'd probably still be sponsored by Bathwise right now.

Having been happy to see our club brought into the top flight on the back of MB’s wealth it’s perhaps just a tad hypocritical to be disapproving of the choice of shirt sponsor.

Depending on Young McBee's age, I assume that childrens' shirts aren't allowed a betting logo?

Which would make that away shirt look extra smart (imo)
