I was having a similarish chat with Bish on Saturday. Weve really thrown our eggs in the basket in the hope of living off prem money. If/when we get there and come back, when the as likely chance of going lower than championship, we could easily be ****ed

I remember seeing an interview with Rasmus where amongst other things, he pointed out that it is far harder for BFC to be competitive in the Championship than it would be in the PL, if/when we get there.

His reasoning was as follows. In the Championship, the difference between the 'Haves' (money received from recent time spent in the PL, plus parachute payments) and the 'Have Nots' (teams which haven't been in the PL recently, or at all) is far greater, relatively speaking, than the income gap between the smallest/poorest teams in the PL and the biggest/wealthiest teams.

Basically this is because domestic TV money in the PL is reasonably evenly distributed (though the disparity from overseas TV money and European participation is making it worse again).

Of course, the actual difference in the PL makes it well nigh impossible for the smaller clubs to compete for the Title/Europe. But I guess what he was saying was that a well-run club can still hope to hold its own for an extended stay in the PL, even in the present financial set-up.

Thereafter, if/when we got relegated to the Championship again, prudent financial management of the PL income received, plus parachute money, should (stress) help the club stabilise and avoid a further relegation.

All of which may partly explain the concentration on the sporting side of things at LR, rather than diversifying into additional non-sporting activities in which the club has no real experience?

Neither phrase occurs anywhere in the recent histories of those three clubs, though you should find "Sale of Highfield Road, "Greasy Pete Winkleman" and Marcus "Tickets bought or sold" Evans.

I know it doesn't sound ambitious, but I do wonder which is harder for a team like us... finish in the top 2 or win the Championship play offs vs making sure there are three worse PL teams than us to survive in the top flight.

Had my best anorak on yesterday and counted that we ‘lost’ approx 345 seats to segregation of WHU fans. Further there were approx 65/70 seats blocked off around the dugouts. Not certain the latter will be permanently blocked off but the former will almost certainly a constant loss.

It probably depends on the Met Police. They would have a Safety Meeting with the clubs usually about 4 weeks before the scheduled match to discuss potential issues. Both clubs, including the away club would be represented at that meeting, usually by a senior safety officer.

If they believe a high level risk of violence and/or disorder is likely (based on intelligence), before, during or after the game, then the allocation and segregation would be reviewed on a match by match basis.

This meeting could include if any known persons are travelling, the historical and local context/rival of the fixture. Travel and Transport arrangements plus if alcohol should be served in the away end etc.

in my business ( small to mid-scale music festivals) we are lucky to have a community police officer stroll through once in a four day event.

we haven't seen a bobby on the beat down here in Hampshire in a year.

I understand about the smaller capacity and more hospitality makes the club more money etc, but I just wondered if that was it now or any of the stands built upwards? There are threads on this. Basically no, not without completely rebuilding at outrageous cost over the railway line. Many tens of millions to get another 5000 in. This is it.

True. They have a half built stadium that is also getting smaller in final design as they have no funds.
The new stadium can not be as good a location as the current location so hope it is never finished.

been there to see valencia v bilboa.......great city and ground in superb location with loads of bars nearby......went in the famous spanish drummers bar which is their equivalent of the inverness.....their ultras were a bit off but once they saw a brentford tattoo they were more interested in a conversation......lucky for them lol lol

The expansion options are: to demolish the West Stand and start again to give a second tier; to demolish the North Stand and rebuild with a second tier over the rail line. Possibly another 2,000 in the west and 3,000 in the north. The cost per additional seat would be enormous and the money would never be recovered, especially given the loss of the stand for a season or so. It's unrealistic.

If we're an established top 10 PL club, we'll have to relocate.

No way. We couldn't have a better location. As Banana states, we can survive with a full house and other income. A bigger stadium and empty seats would be a risk and relocation to God knows where, maybe even Twickenham, would be an insult to all devoted long term supporters, I'm sure.
