You are quoting the attendance. There's plenty of empty seats. Over 100 ST seats on the Ticket Exchange for a start- and they know it exists.

So plenty of empty seats

Seems quite a few "no shows today".

Lots of room to my left in the family stand and to my right in the South Stand (upper level). Although, they may have stayed in the lounges for the second half. 😆

Looking out the top of the north stand, there seemed to be a several small blocks of empty seats in each of the other stands - groups of 6-12 perhaps, rather than individual or couples/ family absences

Is the EPL not the same as the EFL when all seats sold are counted rather than bums on seats?

I'm fairly sure the number of tickets sold is given as the attendance rather than those who...erm...attended. Emirates attendances were always laughed at previously as they bore no reality to the number of people in the stadium...

2 seats next to me have been unoccupied for the last 3 home games....
Remember a story of a Newcastle fan years ago who had empty seats next to him despite sell outs. After Xmas a dad & son appeared, unbelievably the dads wife had bought them a season ticket as an Xmas present at start of season which he did'nt get until 25/12!!

So, in order to get a capacity crowd, we need to have a neutral block don't we... 😬🥴

Maybe they are some of these oppo fans that have bought ST, and are just waiting for when we play Liverpool, Man U, Chelsea etc.

I would hope the club do analysis by xmas on attendances and take action if they are hardly being used.

Is it just me that's disappointed to read that despite all the work and planning that went into a spanking brand new stadium, we can only fit about 5000 more in than Griffin Park? Would like to know what the 'genuine' capacity is. I find it hard to believe 1282 seats were paid for and unfilled.

ST holders that regularly stay away are annoying, as they are filling a seat that a member or other fan could fill. I know they've paid for it, but that's not the point. At the end of the season, maybe the club could do an analysis of the numbers of games missed by ST holders. If they've attended fewer than half of the games, they don't get the opportunity to buy another.

There were about 12 seats all together in the middle of the East stand behind the goal that were empty. Same at the Arsenal game too.

We'll have played the top 4 at home by then, plus Arsenal. It should be fairly obvious by that point

Obviously not Arsenal or Brighton fans then.

Segregation is part of that figure.

I find it a stretch to believe that a decent majority of people bought a ST for one math a season without being aware they could get the money back for some of the other games via the exchange. I wasn't there yesterday but mine went on the exchange within minutes of making it available

I was in the North stand yesterday, there were 4 seats 3 rows in front of me, 5 seats to the left and 1 seat in front of me that were empty all game, that's 10 seats within a very small radius, so much so I went and sat in an empty end of row seat for the second half, are these seats previously paid for and people not turning up or are the ticket office having problems, and will we ever get a true attendance figure of who was actually in the ground, It can't be that difficult as the turnstiles all have electronic counters on them, that should give you how many entered the ground, not who purchased tickets.

There may be some fans with S/T who don't attend every game due to shift work but I would still expect their S/T to be used either by the ticket exchange or by letting a friend or colleague attend in their place.

Just out of interest, did anyone purchase it on the exchange?

When ST were on sale we were not even in the PL and rarely selling out. However in encouraging current ST holders to buy for others with little or no history they did run the risk of an unproven interest waning...especially given the elapsed time since they were bought.

Hopefully any STs we sell in the future will only go to fans with significant buying history.

A lot of this problem could be down to supporters not knowing about or able to access the exchange for posting and buying.

He said it went within minutes but I agree alot of (new) fans probably don't know about the exchange, especially when the website says "sold out".

so 1200 short of capacity yesterday. Season tickets are counted in whether in attendance or not. Club said the game was a sell out days ago. How come the club didn't have more tickets to sell? Are there seats missing from the ticketing system? I suppose segregation counts for some and the cleared dug out area near the players and officials too but these dont make up 1200. Where are these empty seats located?

I wonder how many of them were the over-priced ones that were on sale on ticketing websites. Most were £90 for a ticket.
Who is going to pay that? Especially for a Brighton game. I know it's not close to the amount of empty seats that were visible,
but as most were in groups of 6 or dose make you wonder why those ticket holders were absent. I have already heard of Liverpool
fans begging to get tickets for the next game so there will be some in the home end. I got 2 from the TE but tried 3 times to get 2
other times but they were "sold out". No way was that a sell out yesterday.

I know what you mean but there are problems there. What if someone has had long Covid or another illness? My daughter went to the Arsenal game but she is unlikely to go to the evening games but we'll sell her ticket on. Getting to any evening game from the West Country is an effort. Due to transport issues / congestion / parking many will struggle to get to any evening games (not that there are many). Sky rejigs are another issue.

But to see a load of seats in the centre of a stand when they could have been sold was disappointing.

But, as with ST no-shows or those listed on TE but not sold, they would still be 'counted' as part of the official attendance.

W235. Six seats next to me were empty but used for Arsenal. Well there was a chap there in the first half who I suspected was a Brighton fan but he disappeared in 2nd half.

The capacity of GP in the PL would be about 8,000. So it's more than twice as large.

Probably much less for GA if a big chunk of New Road was Red Zone and all the EPL hanger ons etc

You won’t get a true attendance figure released publicly. The matchday operation control has this monitored through the day as they need to know how many people are in what part of the stadium.

What would have been restricted - obviously seats replacing standing and 'hangers on'?
It's been done to death on here before. This thread is about what the LR capacity is.
